Private fleets make up 224 of the 284 active Mahopac carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, meaning businesses moving their own materials and stock. If your truck belongs to a contractor, a landscaper or a supply business here, have the company’s USDOT number ready along with the title, so we can match the registration to the business that owns it.
Of those Mahopac carriers, 227 run intrastate only and 56 cross state lines, on the figures FMCSA’s carrier census publishes. A truck that has stayed inside New York usually carries New York registration alone; one that has run interstate may also have IRP cab cards or an IFTA decal, so photograph both alongside the cab.
New registrations keep arriving: the FMCSA carrier census shows 19 Mahopac carriers starting up in 2025 and 14 in 2024. If you started your operation recently and are now selling a truck you bought for it, the bill of sale and the title transfer from that purchase help us confirm the chain of ownership.
Freight, lumber, vehicles and heavy equipment
General freight is listed by 120 Mahopac carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census. For a van body or dry-van tractor, send photos of the cargo area, the liftgate if it has one, and the VIN plate on the door jamb.
Logs, poles, beams and lumber appear on 40 carrier registrations here, while 39 list motor vehicles and 38 list machinery and large objects, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Log trucks, car carriers, rollbacks and lowboys all fall within what we purchase; tell us the body or trailer type and its maker, and photograph the deck, the ramps or the bunks.
If the truck you are selling is a tow rig or a car hauler that moved vehicles around Putnam County, list any wheel-lift, winch or ramp equipment that stays with it. Knowing what is mounted to the chassis before we arrive keeps the collection simple.
Short local runs and a 2019 median model year
Driver registrations in FMCSA’s carrier census put 436 Mahopac drivers within 100 miles of home and 133 beyond that radius. If your truck is sitting at a job site or a yard elsewhere in the Hudson Valley, give us that address and we will collect it there.
Across 74 Mahopac carriers reporting mileage, the median truck covers 7,750 miles a year, per FMCSA’s carrier census. Read the odometer before you call and send a photo of it; that figure and the VIN are the first two things we ask for.
Between September 2024 and August 2026, inspectors stopped 101 trucks run by Mahopac carriers, and in those FMCSA roadside inspection records the median model year is 2019, with 33.7 percent at ten model years or older. Whatever the year of your truck, have the title, the current registration and any service records together before the sale.
Stone and gravel north of the reservoir towns
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Patterson Quarry Plant #79, a crushed-stone operation 12.2 miles north-east of Mahopac, and Fishkill Quarry, 12.4 miles to the north-west. Dump trucks and tri-axles that haul stone from sites like these are trucks we purchase; tell us the body length and whether the tailgate or the box is hydraulic.
Century Aggregates Fishkill Mine, a sand and gravel operation 12.1 miles north-west of town, also appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. If your dump truck is parked at a pit or a quarry yard rather than at home, give us the site name and someone who can open the gate, and we will arrange collection there.
Croton rail yards, Cortlandt Manor fuel and Camp Smith
The North American Rail Network, maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the North Croton rail yard 13.8 miles south-west of Mahopac and Harmon Shops 14.4 miles out in the same direction. A tractor that has shuttled loads to and from those yards can be collected wherever it is parked in Westchester or Putnam; send us the address with the photos.
A petroleum product terminal at Cortland Manor, 11.7 miles west, is listed by the Energy Information Administration. If your truck is a fuel delivery unit or pulls a tank trailer, tell us the tank capacity and compartments and include any tank test certificates you hold.
To the west, Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings show Constitution Island at 11.3 miles and the NG Camp Smith training site at 11.6 miles. If your truck is stored near either installation, let us know any access rules for the lot so the pickup is arranged with whoever controls it.
Contractors, haulers and Putnam County farms
Of the 3,463 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Mahopac for 2023, construction holds 311, or 9 percent, and transportation and warehousing holds 189, or 5.5 percent. Contractors’ dump trucks, flatbeds and utility bodies are all trucks we purchase; list any crane, plow mount or toolbox that comes with yours.
If the truck is titled to one of those businesses, the person signing the title must be authorised to sign for the company, so have that officer available on the day.
Putnam County had 68 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, hogs and honey at the top of the list. A farm truck, a stake body or a livestock hauler from one of those operations can be sold the same way as any other; have the farm’s title and registration on hand.
Titles at Brewster and New York’s clean truck rules
Mahopac sellers handle title matters at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office on Geneva Rd in Brewster, a 7.2-mile drive away. If your title is lost, apply for a duplicate there before the sale, and bring your registration and identification when you go.
On the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation pages, the Advanced Clean Trucks and Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus rules both carry a paused enforcement status. Neither rule changes what you need to sell a truck to us: a clear title in your name, the registration and the keys.
