Two quarries just west of the village
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Kinsella Jamesville Barrett Plant, a crushed-stone quarry, 4.2 miles west of Manlius, and the Jamesville Plant another half mile beyond it at 4.7 miles. A dump truck or tri-axle that has hauled aggregate out of either one can be collected right where it is parked, whether that is a quarry lot or a driveway in the village.
If your truck worked those pits, note which plant it loaded at and send photos of the body, the frame rails and the cab interior. Keep the registration and any scale tickets or service records together in one folder so the paperwork is ready the day we arrive.
Tracks north-west
Freight yards between Manlius and Syracuse
North-west of Manlius, the North American Rail Network maps the DEWITT rail yard at 5.2 miles and DEWITT SHOPS at 6.8 miles. Tractors that shuttle freight to and from those yards are the kind of equipment we buy from owners around here.
At 5.5 miles out, the Syracuse, NY intermodal ramp appears in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, along with the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal at 6.3 miles. A day cab that pulled containers off the ramp or a tanker tractor that loaded at Transflo can stay on its usual lot; give us the address and the name of whoever can open the gate.
Of the 74 active carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census places in Manlius, 57 are private fleets moving their own goods, not freight for hire. The census also splits them into 64 intrastate-only operators and 10 with interstate authority.
By cargo, the same federal census shows 27 carriers listing general freight, 17 machinery and large objects, 12 logs, poles, beams and lumber, and 10 farm supplies. A lowboy tractor from a machinery outfit or a log truck from a lumber hauler: tell us the body type and the trailer setup when you first get in touch.
The three biggest fleets registered here run 6, 6 and 5 power units with a driver for each, per FMCSA. Owner-operators and small companies like these can sell a single truck without involving anyone else; one title and one signature are enough.
Near-home driving
A hundred-mile radius for most Manlius drivers
Drivers working within 100 miles of base number 107 in the FMCSA carrier census, compared with 47 who travel beyond that radius. Fourteen Manlius carriers gave FMCSA a yearly mileage figure, and the middle of that group sits at 10,000 miles per truck. Have the odometer reading and VIN on hand when you call.
Twenty-eight trucks from here were stopped for FMCSA roadside inspections from September 2024 through August 2026, and the median model year among them was 2018.5, with 32.1 percent at ten model years or older. Whatever year yours is, include a photo of the door-jamb sticker showing the VIN.
New registrations keep arriving too: FMCSA shows 7 carriers added in 2025 and 3 in 2024. If you started up recently and are now changing equipment, bring the registration and the purchase paperwork from when you bought the truck.

Manufacturing jobs, contractors and Onondaga dairies
Manufacturing employs 488 of the 2,113 people working in Manlius, a 23.1 percent share according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, while wholesale trade accounts for 51 jobs. Box trucks and straight trucks that move parts and finished goods between plants fit right into what we collect.
Contractors with a dump body, a stake bed or a flatbed they no longer need can have it picked up from the yard or the job site.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture puts 572 farms in Onondaga County and ranks milk first, then corn, then cattle. A feed truck, a grain hauler or a livestock tractor can be collected at the farm; tell us whether the lane takes a rollback in wet weather.
Your title and the Syracuse DMV office
A lost Manlius title is replaced at the SYRACUSE office of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, 10.9 miles away in Western Lights Plaza at 4671 Onondaga Blvd. Sort out the duplicate there before the sale.
When the title is in hand, check that the name on it matches your registration and that any lien is shown as released. Sign nothing until we arrive; we walk through each line with you at pickup.
The questions we get asked in Manlius
- My dump truck sits at a Jamesville quarry. Does pickup at the plant gate work for you?The Mine Safety and Health Administration places both Jamesville plants under 5 miles west of Manlius, and we collect from quarry lots as well as homes. Tell us which plant and who can let us in.
- The title for my truck is gone. Which office in this area replaces it?Duplicate titles for Manlius owners come from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles counter on Onondaga Blvd in Syracuse, 10.9 miles off. Take your registration and a photo ID with you.
- Our company keeps a small private fleet in Manlius. Will you take a single unit from it?Of Manlius’s 74 active carriers in FMCSA’s census, 57 are private fleets, and we buy from them one truck at a time. The title should carry the company name, and whoever signs needs the authority to do so for the business.
- My tractor is kept at the DeWitt shops. Is collection possible from the yard?DeWitt’s rail yards lie 5.2 and 6.8 miles north-west of Manlius on the North American Rail Network, and we come to the yard. Pass along the yard address plus the name of the person holding the gate key.
