Mattydale’s registered motor carriers, mostly in-state
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 64 active motor carriers with a Mattydale address, and 51 of them are registered for intrastate work against 13 for interstate. If your tractor or straight truck has stayed inside New York, the registration and the title are the two papers that matter most when we collect it here.
Of those 64 Mattydale carriers, 50 are private fleets according to the same FMCSA census, meaning businesses that haul their own goods rather than other people’s. A company truck sold off a private fleet usually comes with a title held in the business name, so have whoever signs for the business ready on pickup day.
Two Mattydale carriers joined FMCSA’s census in 2025, and one joined in 2024. Whether your operation is one of the long-standing ones or newly started, we need the same things from you: the VIN, the title, and photos of the cab, frame and tires.
Vans, flatbeds, coil
General freight, machinery, lumber and steel coil
General freight is the cargo class most often declared here, by 28 Mattydale carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census. Box trucks and day cabs with dry vans are what that work tends to put on the road, and either one can be listed with us from the lot where it is parked.
Seven carriers in the same FMCSA census haul machinery and large objects, six carry logs, poles, beams and lumber, and six move metal sheets, coils and rolls. If yours is a flatbed, lowboy or log rig, send photos of the deck, the tie-downs and any coil racks along with the tractor so we see the full unit.
The biggest fleet registered here runs 84 power units with 99 drivers, per FMCSA’s census, while the next two hold nine and seven units. A seller with several trucks from a fleet that size can list them together; give us each VIN and where each one sits.
Local routes and the trucks that travel them
Drivers listed by Mattydale carriers in the FMCSA census split into 93 working within 100 miles and 161 working beyond that radius. A truck that ranges past Syracuse may be parked away from home when you contact us, so tell us the town where it is now and we will collect it there.
Sixteen carriers here report yearly mileage to FMCSA, and their trucks log a median of 12,627 miles each. Have the current odometer reading written down along with the VIN before you call; those two figures start every conversation we have about a truck.
FMCSA roadside inspection records cover 162 trucks from carriers here, inspected between September 2024 and August 2026. Those inspection records give a median model year of 2022, with 4.94 percent ten or more model years old; please give us the exact year, make and model of yours from the title.
DeWitt, Solvay, Jamesville
Rail yards, terminals and quarries around Mattydale
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, puts the DeWitt Shops yard 3.7 miles south-east of Mattydale and the Solvay yard 4.2 miles south-west. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics adds the Syracuse intermodal ramp 5.5 miles east, so if your tractor has pulled containers from that ramp, say so when you list it.
Liquid bulk moves through the Transflo CSXT terminal 4.1 miles south-east of town, as listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Tankers and the tractors that pull them are trucks we buy; keep the tank’s inspection paperwork with the title so it travels with the sale.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two crushed-stone quarries south-east of here, the Jamesville Plant at 7.3 miles and the Kinsella Jamesville Barrett Plant at 7.8 miles. Dump trucks and tri-axles that haul out of those pits can be picked up at the quarry yard or at your shop, whichever is easier to reach.
Wholesale to dairy
Wholesale jobs, contractors and Onondaga dairy
In 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 772 jobs in Mattydale, with 122 in wholesale trade at 15.8 percent and 110 in construction at 14.2 percent. Contractors and distributors selling a work truck should have the title and the registration in the same business name before we arrive.
Contractors are a steady presence too: 34 construction establishments show up in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns for Mattydale. If yours is a dump body, a crane truck or a service body from one of those outfits, photograph the equipment mounted on the chassis as well as the cab.
Milk tops the list of products on Onondaga County’s 572 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, followed by corn and cattle. Milk haulers, grain trucks and livestock rigs from those farms can be collected straight from the farm lane.
East Taft Road office
Replacing a title near Hancock Field, and the paused NY truck rules
Mattydale sellers have a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office close by, 2.3 miles off at 5801 East Taft Road in North Syracuse. If your title is lost or still shows a lienholder, that office is where a replacement title or a lien release gets recorded before the sale.
For a truck based beside Hancock Field, the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus Regulation both currently show enforcement paused on the Department of Environmental Conservation’s pages. Neither rule changes what you need to hand over to sell to us here: the signed title, the registration, and the keys.
