Slate Hill sand, Goshen and Chester crushed rock
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Slate Hill Sand & Gravel 3.3 miles south-west of Middletown, close enough that a tri-axle hauling from that pit may well be parked at the pit itself rather than in town. Give us the pit address and the name of whoever controls the gate there, and the collection gets planned around their hours.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists two crushed-stone quarries south-east of the city: Goshen Quarry at 6.9 miles and the Chester Plant at 9.4 miles. A truck that has carried stone out of either one usually comes with scale tickets or load logs; keep a few with the title, since they tell us what the body was built to carry.
North-east, MSHA’s listing shows an industrial-mineral mine 8.8 miles away. If your dump body, spreader or plow frame was fitted for that work, photograph the body, the hoist and the VIN plate together in one frame.
Middletown carriers, by what they haul
Of the 543 active Middletown carriers on FMCSA’s census, general freight is the cargo declared by 248. Box trucks and day cabs from that group are the bulk of what a seller here brings us; have the registration and the last annual inspection sticker date to hand when you call.
Further down FMCSA’s carrier census, 76 Middletown carriers declare machinery and large objects, 75 declare garbage and refuse, and 60 declare motor vehicles. Lowboys, roll-offs, rear loaders and car carriers all fit that mix, and for a body like a packer or a rollback, a photo of the body’s own plate alongside the chassis VIN saves a second round of questions.
Most of these outfits stay inside the state: the federal carrier census records 405 as intrastate against 138 interstate, and 373 as private fleets moving their own goods. A truck that has only ever carried New York plates needs only its New York title and registration from you, with no apportioned paperwork to dig out.
Driving radius and yearly miles around Middletown
FMCSA’s census shows 723 drivers for Middletown carriers working within 100 miles of base and 361 going beyond it. Short-haul trucks tend to come home at night, so tell us whether yours sits at a yard, a job site or your driveway and we will meet it there.
Among the 119 Middletown carriers that report mileage to the federal census, the median runs 12,500 miles per truck a year. Read the odometer and photograph the dash with the key on; that single picture answers the first question we ask.
Fleet sizes on FMCSA’s carrier census top out at 44 power units with 30 drivers, then 35 units with 40 drivers and 18 units with 9 drivers. If you are selling several trucks from one yard, list every VIN in one message and we will look at them as a group.
The 2016 median on inspected Orange County rigs
Roadside inspection records kept by FMCSA cover 299 Middletown-based trucks stopped between September 2024 and August 2026, and their median model year is 2016. Have the model year and engine family from the door-jamb and valve-cover labels ready, since those set which paperwork rules apply.
Of the Middletown trucks in those FMCSA roadside inspection records, 43.48 percent carried a model year ten or more years back. Older or newer, the steps are the same: title in hand, registration current or recently lapsed, and clear photos of all four sides.
For an Orange County diesel, the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation shows Advanced Clean Trucks and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus both with enforcement on pause. Nothing about either rule needs to be filed by you when you sell a diesel truck to us.
Title and paperwork
The DMV office on King Street
Middletown’s own New York State Department of Motor Vehicles counter is at 12 King St, roughly 0.2 miles from the middle of town. A missing New York title is replaced at that counter; start the duplicate application there before you contact us.
If a lender is still shown on the title, bring the lien release to that same King Street office so the record matches. A title in a business name needs the officer who signs to be listed, and the New York State DMV will tell you which form covers the transfer.
Port Jervis, Stewart and the Newburgh terminal
Port Jervis, 14.9 miles west, carries a rail yard on the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that shuttles from that yard can be collected where it is kept; give us the lot and a contact.
East toward the Hudson, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Stewart Annex at 17.4 miles and Stewart IAP at 18 miles, and the Energy Information Administration lists the Cargo Newburgh petroleum product terminal 21.3 miles out. A fuel tanker or a truck based near Newburgh does not have to be brought back to Middletown; we go to it.
Orange County also farms: USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 613 farms here, led by milk, equine and potted flowering plants. Milk haulers, horse-trailer tow rigs and nursery box trucks parked on a farm are collected from the farm, so tell us how wide the gate is and where the truck is standing.
Factory, building and wholesale trucks
Manufacturing accounts for 1,102 of Middletown’s 8,146 jobs in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, with construction at 233 and wholesale trade at 164. Straight trucks and tractors that serve plants and supply houses are in our range; a copy of the maintenance log, if you keep one, rounds out the photos.
Builders are thick on the ground: the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns puts 173 construction establishments around Middletown. A contractor’s dump truck, flatbed or mason body is something we look at; if it is still lettered, that is fine, just tell us so the photos are not a surprise.

- Do you take roll-offs and garbage trucks?Seventy-five Middletown carriers declare garbage and refuse on FMCSA’s carrier census, and their roll-offs and packers are trucks we buy. Photograph the body plate along with the chassis VIN.
- Can you pick up a truck kept over by Newburgh instead of in Middletown? The Cargo Newburgh terminal is 21.3 miles east on the Energy Information Administration’s list, and Orange County as a whole is in range. Give us the address where the truck is kept.
