The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists an industrial-mineral mine 4.1 miles west of the village. A dump truck or tri-axle that runs loads out of that pit may well be parked at the site or at a yard nearby when you contact us, so tell us the exact spot and who can let us in.
A crushed-stone quarry 9.8 miles to the south-east also appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. For a quarry truck, send photos of the body, the frame and the hoist with the title, and note any permits the truck carried for that work.
If your truck hauled for a contractor rather than for yourself, have the registration and the name on the title lined up before we talk, since those two must agree for the sale.
Fuel terminals at Newburgh and the Stewart installations
Twelve miles east, the Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals, South Newburgh and North Newburgh. Tank tractors that shuttle between those racks and Orange County stations are trucks we buy; list the trailer separately if it is part of the sale and give us its own VIN.
If your tractor is parked at one of those yards, check the terminal’s gate rules first and give us a contact who can sign us in.
Stewart Annex sits 7.7 miles east and Stewart IAP 8.1 miles east, each recorded as a military installation by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A truck stored on or near a base needs an access arrangement in advance, so mention it early and we will plan the collection around it.
Montgomery has 206 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census; 160 of them run intrastate and 46 cross state lines. With most operators staying inside New York, the truck you sell is likely to be parked close to home, and a home driveway or shop lot works fine for us.
General freight is the cargo listed by 72 of those carriers, with machinery and large objects on 54, farm supplies on 32 and logs, poles, beams and lumber on 29, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. A flatbed, lowboy or log truck from that mix sells the same way as a box truck: VIN, title, odometer reading and a set of clear photos.
Of the drivers in FMCSA’s census here, 416 work within 100 miles and 116 go farther. Among the 50 carriers that reported annual mileage, the median comes to 12,500 miles per truck, also from FMCSA’s census, so have that odometer figure handy when you call.
Whichever end of that spread your truck sits on, the paperwork we ask for is the same: the title, current registration and any service records you kept. The three biggest fleets in FMCSA’s census run 79, 26 and 24 power units, and an owner selling several units can send one list of VINs rather than separate requests.
Box trucks and day cabs serving those plants and distributors are part of what we collect, from a loading dock as readily as from a driveway.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 613 farms in Orange County, with milk, equine and potted flowering plants at the top of the list. A milk tanker, livestock hauler or straight truck from a nursery is welcome; send its registration along with photos taken in daylight on the farm.
Titles
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office closest to the village is GOSHEN, at 255 Main St in the Orange County Government Center, 8.9 miles away. A duplicate title for a truck registered in New York is handled there.
If the title is in a lender’s name or still lists a lien, bring the lien release to the Goshen office of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles along with your application. Tell us the title situation when you first get in touch so we can plan around it.
