Rockland’s two crushed-stone quarries
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Haverstraw Quarry & Mill, a crushed-stone operation, 4 miles east of Mount Ivy. A dump truck or tri-axle that has spent its shifts loading at that pit is one we buy, and it can stay right where it is parked between loads. Send us a photo of the body, the plate and the VIN door sticker so the listing matches the truck in the yard.
West Nyack Quarry, another crushed-stone site, is 6.9 miles to the south-east on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. If your truck has split its routes between the two quarries, tell us so, and mention whether it carries a scale ticket book or a site pass; those papers help us match the truck to the work it has done in Rockland.
Mount Ivy’s builders and its warehouse routes
Construction filled 97 of Mount Ivy’s 751 workplace jobs in 2023, a 12.9 percent slice, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Dump trucks, flatbeds and box trucks used on that building work can be sold to us from a job site or a home driveway. Have the registration and the title in the same name before we arrive.
Wholesale trade held 66 of those jobs, or 8.8 percent, according to the same LEHD job counts for 2023. Straight trucks and step vans that run deliveries out of local warehouses fit what we purchase too; list the body length and liftgate type when you write to us, and include a photo of the cargo area.
Rail yards and a fuel terminal to the east
North Croton, a rail yard 6.8 miles east, and Harmon Shops, 7.5 miles east, both appear in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that has run between those yards and Rockland can be collected wherever it is parked; give us the street address where it sits.
Up at Cortland Manor, 8.5 miles to the north-east, the Energy Information Administration records a terminal storing petroleum products. Fuel haulers and tank trucks that load there are welcome here; keep any tank inspection certificates with the title, since they tell us what the vehicle was set up to carry.
Your title and the West Haverstraw DMV
If the title has gone missing, the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office at 45 South Route 9W in West Haverstraw, 2.4 miles from Mount Ivy, is where a replacement starts. Request the duplicate before you contact us, and bring the registration so the name and VIN line up on both documents.
When a lender still holds a lien on the truck, ask that lender for a release letter. With the release, the title and a government ID in hand, the sale in Rockland County is a matter of signing in the right places.
Where New York’s emissions rules stand
On the Department of Environmental Conservation’s own postings, New York has put enforcement of its Advanced Clean Trucks regulation on hold for now. The Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus regulation shows that same paused status.
Neither rule changes what you need to sell a diesel truck to us from Mount Ivy: the title, the registration and photos of the cab, the frame and the engine bay. Tell us the engine make and model year so the record is complete.
Camp Smith, West Point and the north county
Camp Smith’s National Guard training site lies 9.2 miles north-east of Mount Ivy and the West Point Military Reservation 11.7 miles north, both on Bureau of Transportation Statistics maps. Contractors who have hauled to either installation can leave the truck at the base of their route; tell us whether a gate escort or pass is needed to reach it.
Rockland County had 18 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with honey named as a leading product. A small farm pickup or flatbed used around those operations is a truck we will look at, so send the VIN, the odometer reading and a photo of each side.
The questions we get asked in Mount Ivy
- Can you pick up a dump truck sitting in the Haverstraw Quarry & Mill yard? The Mine Safety and Health Administration puts the Haverstraw Quarry & Mill 4 miles east of Mount Ivy, and we collect from the quarry yard itself. Give us the name of whoever opens the quarry gate and we set the collection up through them.
- My New York title is lost; which DMV office near Mount Ivy issues a duplicate? The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles runs an office at 45 South Route 9W in West Haverstraw, 2.4 miles away. Apply there for the duplicate, then send us a photo of it.
- With Advanced Clean Trucks enforcement paused in New York, is anything different about selling my diesel from Mount Ivy?Both ACT and the Low NOx Omnibus show enforcement paused on the state Department of Environmental Conservation’s postings, so a Mount Ivy sale still comes down to the title, the registration and photos of the truck.
