Shale pits close by
Two quarries within a few minutes of Mountain Lodge Park
Callahan & Nannini Shale, a crushed-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 1.3 miles north-east of Mountain Lodge Park, is close enough that a dump truck or tri-axle working it may never leave the area. If yours is sitting at a pit gate or in a contractor’s yard nearby, give us that spot and we will arrange collection there rather than ask you to move it.
A second crushed-stone site, Speyside Holdings, is 2.4 miles to the south-east on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. Trucks that shuttle aggregate between these two pits usually carry a body, a hoist or a plow mount; tell us what is fitted and send a photo of the body plate along with the cab, the VIN and the odometer reading.
Tank trucks and the Newburgh terminal cluster
Nine miles north-east, toward the river, the Energy Information Administration places the Cargo Newburgh petroleum product terminal, with South Newburgh a few tenths of a mile farther at 9.3. A tractor or straight tanker that loaded at those racks can be sold from wherever it is parked now; just name the yard and who holds the gate key.
Global and Warex Terminals Corporation appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records as liquid bulk terminals at 9 and 9.3 miles in that same north-east direction. If your truck pulled product trailers out of that riverside group, include any tank inspection or test paperwork you kept, and say whether the trailer goes with the tractor or stays behind.
Toward the academy
Supply runs east to West Point, north-east to Stewart Annex
According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the West Point Military Reservation lies 6.3 miles due east, and Stewart Annex is 7.7 miles off to the north-east. A box truck, flatbed or service body that runs supplies or contract work toward either installation can be listed with us from home; the truck does not need to come off its route first.
For a vehicle that is kept inside a fenced lot near either post, tell us at the start whether a pass or escort is needed to reach it. Having the registration, a clear photo of each side and the plate number ready lets us line up collection around that access.
Milk, barns, greenhouses
Orange County farms and the trucks they keep
Around Mountain Lodge Park, the farm trucks people call us about tend to come from dairies, horse barns and greenhouse growers, and USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 613 farms in Orange County, with milk, equine and potted flowering plants as its top listings. A milk tanker, a stake body or a livestock hauler from one of those operations is a truck we buy.
Farm trucks often sit in a barn or field for part of the year, which is fine; tell us the road it is on and whether the lane is passable by a carrier. If the title is in a farm or partnership name, have whoever signs for the business ready to sign for the sale.
When the title has gone astray, Goshen’s DMV desk is the stop
Titles here are issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and the nearest DMV office it lists is GOSHEN, at 255 Main St in the Orange County Government Center, about 9.2 miles from town. If the certificate is missing, that counter is where a replacement is requested, and the DMV also takes applications through its website.
Start the replacement before you contact us if you can, and keep the receipt; it shows a title is on its way. Check that the name on the registration matches the person who will sign, and if a loan was ever recorded against the truck, find the lien release letter too.
Two paused DEC engine rules and a Mountain Lodge Park sale
New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation lists the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Regulation for heavy-duty vehicles; enforcement of it is paused at present. Its Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus (HD Omnibus) Regulation is in the same position, with enforcement on hold.
For an owner near Mountain Lodge Park, neither paused rule changes what you hand over when you sell. The truck’s title, registration and the emissions label on the engine are what we look at, so add a photo of that label to the rest.
The questions we get asked in Mountain Lodge Park
- Our tri-axle sits at a shale pit a mile or so north-east of Mountain Lodge Park; will you pick it up from the pit?Callahan & Nannini Shale is 1.3 miles north-east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, and a truck parked there or at Speyside Holdings can be collected on site. Give us the gate contact so the pickup is arranged with whoever runs the yard.
- Which DMV counter handles a replacement title for a Mountain Lodge Park truck? The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles lists its GOSHEN office at 255 Main St, Orange County Government Center, about 9.2 miles away. Request the replacement there or through the DMV’s title page, and send us the receipt with your photos.
- Our straight tanker hauled out of the Newburgh racks toward the Hudson; is that a truck you buy?Cargo Newburgh and South Newburgh, petroleum product terminals the Energy Information Administration places about 9 miles north-east, are the kind of racks those tankers serve, and we buy tank trucks and tractors from them. Say in your first message if the tank comes off before the chassis is sold.
