Title office
Bethpage DMV, half a mile away
If the title for your truck has gone missing, that is the counter where a Plainedge owner applies for a replacement, and it is close enough to visit before we schedule collection.
Bring the registration and some form of identification when you go to Bethpage, and ask for the duplicate title application by name. With the replacement in hand, photograph its front page and the VIN plate on the door jamb and send both to us before a collection date is set.
Builders and wholesalers on the payroll
Dump bodies, flatbeds and box trucks carrying lumber and block are the kind of vehicle that work keeps on driveways and in contractor yards here, so tell us whether yours is parked at a house or a job site.
Wholesale trade accounted for 75 of those jobs and transportation and warehousing for 55, according to the same LEHD figures. A straight truck or a single tractor used for deliveries off Hempstead Turnpike is a typical sale from a small operator in town; have the registration and any service invoices together when you get in touch.
For a contractor selling one vehicle out of several, list each VIN separately and note which body is fitted to which chassis. That keeps the paperwork for a mixed group of trucks in order from the first call.
Aggregate work to the north-east
Broad Hollow Estates Inc, a sand and gravel operation listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lies 3.9 miles north-east of Plainedge. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump trailers serving a pit like that one tend to be parked close to it between loads.
If your dump truck is sitting at or near the pit, give us the gate contact and the hours the site is open; collection from an aggregate yard runs on the operator’s access rules. Photos of the body, the hoist and the cab from all four sides let us see the whole truck before we arrive.
Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings north of town: Oyster Bay at 10.7 miles and Glenwood Landing at 11.5 miles to the north-west. Separately, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records two liquid bulk terminals at 10.8 and 11.5 miles in the same direction.
Tank trucks and fuel-delivery straight trucks loading at those North Shore racks are tractors and chassis we purchase. Tell us whether the tank stays with the truck, and send any tank test or inspection paperwork you keep for it. A tanker’s records are part of its history.
If the tanker is parked inside a terminal fence on the North Shore, name the facility and who controls access; we arrange the collection with them rather than asking you to move it.
Rail and the west
Jamaica yards and the run toward Brooklyn
Seventeen miles west, the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places Jamaica Yard at 17.2 miles and a second Jamaica yard at 17.9 miles from Plainedge. Further on, a military installation in Brooklyn sits 23.3 miles west on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records.
A Plainedge truck that ends its days parked in Queens or Brooklyn rather than at home can be collected where it stands. Send the street address, the name of whoever holds the keys, and a note on whether it is in a lot, a yard or on the street.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 29 farms across Nassau County, with equine operations and cut flowers among the leading types. Horse trailers’ tow vehicles and small box trucks used by growers fall within what we purchase; tell us whether a trailer or body comes with the truck.
