Fuel racks east and north of the station
The Energy Information Administration places the North Holtsville Terminal, a petroleum product terminal, 3.1 miles east of Ronkonkoma, and a second one at East Setauket 8 miles north. If a fuel tractor or straight tanker of yours loads at either rack, give us the yard address where it parks and the name of whoever holds the keys.
At 9.8 miles east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Brookhaven Rail Terminal as a liquid bulk terminal, and the same site appears as a rail yard in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your tanker or day cab shuttled between that yard and Ronkonkoma, put the terminal names in your first message along with photos of the cab, the tank and the plate.
Aggregate haulers on the Coram side
Two sand and gravel operations on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list sit north-east of town: Roanoke Sand & Gravel Corporation at 11.3 miles and Coram Materials Corp at 11.4 miles. Tri-axle dumps and tractors hauling aggregate from those pits are among the trucks we buy here, and a truck kept at a pit gate can be collected from that spot once you send us directions.
Construction employs 2,542 people working in Ronkonkoma, a 16.1 percent share, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, while County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 261 construction establishments. If a contractor’s dump, roll-off or flatbed is idle after a job wrapped up, the registration and the VIN plate photo are the two things to have in hand before you call.
Private fleets and in-state carriers
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 588 active carriers based in Ronkonkoma, with 502 operating intrastate only, 84 crossing state lines and 453 operating as private fleets. A business that moves its own goods in its own truck is the typical seller here, so the person who signs the title is often a company officer rather than a driver; tell us who that is when you get in touch.
General freight is listed by 259 of those carriers, machinery and large objects by 57, garbage and refuse by 46, and metal sheets, coils and rolls by 44, according to the same FMCSA census. Box trucks, rear loaders and flatbeds with coil racks all fit what we collect from this part of Suffolk County.
Of the drivers counted, FMCSA’s census records 1,344 working within 100 miles and 501 going beyond it, and a median of 12,000 miles a truck across the 136 carriers reporting mileage. Tell us the shop or lot where yours is kept, and pickup is planned for that address.
Inspection lanes and the local fleet mix
Ronkonkoma-based carriers put 451 trucks in front of inspectors from August 2024 to August 2026, and FMCSA roadside inspection records show a median model year of 2018 among them, with 36 percent at ten years or older. Whatever the year of yours, send the model year, engine make and the odometer reading with your photos.
The biggest fleets in town, per FMCSA’s census, run 58 power units with 56 drivers, then 27 units with 29 drivers and 27 units with 24 drivers. An owner retiring a handful of units at once can list every VIN in one message, and we will work through the set together.
Hauppauge for a duplicate title
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office at 250 Veterans Memorial Hwy in Hauppauge is 5.1 miles from Ronkonkoma, and that is the place to start on a replacement title if yours has gone missing. Bring the registration and proof of identity, and tell us the duplicate is on its way so we can line up the rest.
For a company-owned truck, the New York title usually shows the business name, so have the officer who can sign for that business available.
New York’s ACT and Omnibus status
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation lists enforcement of the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation as paused. Its Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus regulation shows the same paused status on the department’s published rules.
Neither rule changes what you bring to a sale in Ronkonkoma today: title, registration and photos. If you have emissions paperwork for the engine, add it to the folder anyway.
