Fuel point next door
A defense fuel depot just south-west of the village
The Verona Defense Fuel Support Point lies about 1.2 miles south-west of the village, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your tractor or straight truck has been parked or working near that stretch, tell us the road it sits on and whether a gate or yard contact is needed; we arrange collection at the truck’s location.
North-east toward Rome, the same Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing places the Rome Research Laboratory roughly ten miles from Verona. A truck stored on a base-side lot or a contractor’s yard in that direction can be collected there, so send us the address and a phone number for whoever can let us in.
Core sand pit and quarry
Core sand to the north-west, crushed stone at Oriskany Falls
G W Bryant Core Sands Inc., an industrial-mineral mine listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, operates about 11.9 miles north-west of Verona. Dump trucks and tractors that have run sand loads out of a pit like that often stay parked on site; photograph the frame, the bed or trailer, the tires and the cab, then send the pictures with the VIN.
South-east of the village, the Oriskany Falls Plant is a crushed-stone quarry 14.2 miles away on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. If your truck hauled aggregate from that plant, keep the registration and any service invoices together with the title; those are the first papers we ask a quarry-truck seller to show.
Terminals and yards eastward
Petroleum terminals at Marcy and two Utica rail yards
Two petroleum product terminals named MARCY sit east of Verona, at 16.1 and 16.4 miles, as the Energy Information Administration records them. Tank tractors that shuttle between those terminals and local delivery points are trucks we buy; tell us whether the tractor is sold alone or with its trailer, and list the trailer’s VIN separately.
Rail traffic meets the road at UTICA (NYSW), a yard 17.1 miles east, and at the UTICA yard a mile beyond it, on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that drayed freight from either yard can be picked up wherever they are parked between there and Verona; just give us a street address.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 41 active carriers based in Verona, and 35 of them run intrastate against 6 crossing state lines. That census also counts 30 private fleets, meaning companies hauling their own goods; if your truck belonged to one of those operations, have the title in the company’s name and a signer with authority ready when you contact us.
General freight is the most common cargo, carried by 15 of the local carriers, while 12 move machinery and large objects, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Lowboys, flatbeds and the tractors that pull them fit that machinery count, so note the trailer type and axle setup when you describe your rig.
Farm supplies and grain, feed and hay are each hauled by 8 Verona carriers in FMCSA’s census figures. Grain trucks and feed haulers in that group are welcome; a clear photo of the data plate on the door jamb speeds up identifying the exact model.
Fleets under six tractors
Small fleets on short routes around the village
The carriers here are small: the three biggest in FMCSA’s carrier census run 5, 4 and 4 power units. Selling one unit out of a two- or three-truck operation is common, and we only need the paperwork for the truck being sold, not the whole fleet.
Drivers working inside a hundred-mile radius number 60, against 42 who go farther, by FMCSA’s carrier census. Eight Verona outfits filed annual mileage with FMCSA’s carrier census, and their middle truck logged 5,000 miles.
New registrations have been sparse lately: FMCSA’s carrier census recorded one new Verona carrier in 2025 and none in 2024. If you are winding down an older authority and parking the truck for good, tell us where it is stored and whether the plates are still on it.
Verona’s milk, corn and cattle hauling
Around Verona, the farm economy of Oneida County counts 834 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and milk, corn and cattle lead its output. Milk haulers, grain trucks and livestock rigs that serve those farms can be collected from the farmyard itself, so there is no need to move the truck before we arrive.
Verona held 665 jobs in 2023, a total drawn from the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Whether your truck served a farm, a local employer or your own business, have the registration and the title in the same name, or tell us early if they differ.
Seven and a half miles to the ROME counter
Lost certificates of title are replaced by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and its ROME office at 301 West Dominick St, Rome, is about 7.6 miles from Verona. Request the replacement there before the sale, since we need a title in hand to complete the purchase.
On emissions, New York’s Advanced Clean Trucks regulation and its Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus regulation both have enforcement paused, according to the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation notices. Verona sellers of diesel tractors face no extra step from either rule at the moment, so the title and registration remain the documents to gather.
