Candlewood Lake’s trucks and where they sit
With 1,053 residents on the Census Bureau’s count, Candlewood Lake is small enough that most working trucks here are parked at a house, a farm lane or a contractor’s lot rather than a terminal. Tell us which of those it is when you get in touch, and whether a trailer or a second vehicle is parked in front of it, so the collection is planned around the spot rather than guessed at.
The trucks that work out of a place like this are dump trucks and tri-axles heading to the gravel pits, grain and livestock trucks for the farms, and day cabs that pull to the Marion or Crestline rail yards. All of those are trucks we buy. Before you send photos, find the title and check the name printed on it against the name on the registration card; where they differ, tell us which one is you.
Photos from Candlewood Lake should show the whole truck: each side, the cab interior, the odometer, the door sticker with the VIN, and the bed or fifth wheel. A truck parked on grass by the lake is fine to photograph where it is; we do not need it moved for the pictures.
The Chesterville and Fredericktown pits
Chesterville Sand & Gravel Plant is a sand and gravel operation 10.9 miles south-east of Candlewood Lake, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and the Fredericktown Plant, the same kind of operation, lies 16.9 miles out in the same direction. Dump trucks, dump trailers and the tractors that pull them between those pits and job sites are the trucks this section is about.
If your truck is parked at one of those pits rather than at home, that is where we will collect it. Give us the gate hours and the name of whoever can let us onto the yard, and keep the truck’s weigh tickets or haul records with the paperwork if you have them; they show what the truck carried without you having to describe it.
A tri-axle that has hauled aggregate usually has a tarp system, a pusher or tag axle and a steel or aluminum bed, and each of those belongs in your description and in the photos. Note the bed material and the axle configuration in your first message, so our questions are about the truck itself.
Ramp and quarry at Marion
The Marion intermodal ramp and the Marion Plant quarry
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Ohio Valley Intermodal Facility at Marion as a rail intermodal ramp 14.9 miles west of Candlewood Lake. Day cabs that shuttle containers and chassis between that ramp and warehouses are trucks we buy; have the VIN, the odometer reading and the title ready, and list the engine and transmission as the door and dash plates give them.
In the same direction, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records the Marion Plant, a crushed-stone quarry 18.2 miles west of town. A dump truck that has hauled stone from Marion and gravel from Chesterville has worked both sides of the county, and either yard is a workable pickup address so long as the operator agrees to the collection.
Rail north, airfield north-east
Crestline’s rail yard and the Mansfield air base
Crestline Triple Crown is a rail yard 11.2 miles north of Candlewood Lake on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Tractors that drop trailers at that yard spend their nights wherever the driver lives, so a Crestline tractor is as likely to be collected in a driveway at Candlewood Lake as at the yard; tell us which.
North-east of the community, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Mansfield Lahm Airport ANG 179th AW, a military installation 18.8 miles away. A truck that has worked under a base contract may carry site passes and inspection paperwork; keep whatever you have with the title, and tell us if the truck is parked on the far side of a gate we cannot get through.
Farm trucks around the lake
Around Candlewood Lake the farms grow soybeans and corn and raise hogs, the three leading products on USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture for Morrow County, which counts 821 farms. Grain trucks, hopper-bottom tractors and livestock haulers from those farms are trucks we buy, and a farm truck is often titled to the farm rather than to the person behind the wheel.
Check whose name is on a farm truck’s title before you contact us. If it is a partnership or a family business, the person signing needs to be able to sign for it, and a bill of sale from the farm to you does not replace a title in your name. The Morrow County Clerk of Courts Title Office handles a transfer that has to happen first.
Hog haulers and grain trucks are often collected at the farm itself. Tell us whether the lane can take a tow truck or a lowboy, and if the truck is parked in a field or behind a barn, say so and send a photo of the approach along with the truck.
Mt. Gilead
Walnut Street, five and a half miles away
Ohio’s titles come from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles through County Clerk of Courts title offices, and the one for Candlewood Lake is the Morrow County Clerk of Courts Title Office at 80 N Walnut St Ste D, 43338, in Mt. Gilead, a drive the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles puts at 5.6 miles from the lake. A lost title, a title still in a previous owner’s name or a lien that has been cleared but not released is dealt with there before a sale.
Bring the VIN, your identification and the registration card when you go to Mt. Gilead, and ask for a duplicate title if yours is missing. Once the title is in your name, send us a photo of its front and back; that is the one document the sale cannot go ahead without.

Is the pit where you come for it?Chesterville Sand & Gravel Plant sits 10.9 miles south-east of Candlewood Lake on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, and the pit is a normal pickup address for us.
