Collinwood
Rail yards just north of town
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Collinwood Yard intermodal ramp 2.5 miles north of East Cleveland. A tractor that shuttles boxes off that ramp is usually parked close by between moves, so tell us the street or lot where it sits and who holds the keys, and we can line up the collection around it.
Collingwood, a rail yard on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, lies 2.8 miles to the north-east. Day cabs that run between the two Collinwood yards rack up short hops rather than long trips; have the title in your name and the current Ohio registration ready, and send a few photos of the cab, frame and tires before we talk.
South-west of town, that same North American Rail Network lists the East 55th St yard at 4.9 miles. If your truck works the yard side of the city, a VIN and the odometer reading are the two things we ask for first.
Liquid bulk and petroleum terminals on the east side
Norfolk Southern TBT, a liquid bulk terminal, sits 3.9 miles north-east of East Cleveland according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Tractors that pull tank trailers in and out of a site like that often carry terminal paperwork; keep any site inspection reports or service records with the truck, since they show us where it has worked.
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals to the south-west: Cleveland - Asphalt at 5.9 miles and a second Cleveland terminal at 6.2 miles. Between them, at 6.1 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics counts the Cleveland Terminal for liquid bulk. If your rig is parked inside one of these gated yards, give us the name of a contact who can open the gate for pickup.
One East Cleveland carrier is registered under FMCSA’s carrier census for chemicals. If yours is a hazmat tractor, tell us which placards it has carried and whether the tank stays with the sale or comes off before collection.
Fourteen small fleets, almost all intrastate
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 14 active carriers based in East Cleveland, and 13 of them operate intrastate while 1 crosses state lines. For an Ohio-only truck, the title and Ohio registration are usually all the paperwork the sale needs; an interstate unit should also bring its apportioned registration papers.
Six of those carriers list general freight and two list passengers, per the same FMCSA census, with one in dry bulk commodities. Three are private fleets hauling their own goods. A box truck or straight truck from a private fleet sells the same way as a for-hire tractor: the person on the title signs, and we arrange the pickup.
The biggest operators here run 2 power units each, according to FMCSA’s carrier census, and the next-largest runs 1. If you are an owner-operator selling your only truck, say whether you need it collected from your home address or from a yard, and whether you are keeping the plates.
Between September 2024 and August 2026, inspectors pulled over 29 trucks belonging to East Cleveland carriers, and FMCSA roadside inspection records put the middle model year of that group at 2017. Have the model year, engine make and transmission type to hand when you contact us.
Of those 29 inspected trucks, 27.6 percent were ten or more model years old, according to the same FMCSA roadside inspection records. Older or newer, the steps are identical: photos of all four sides, the cab interior and the dash, plus the VIN plate.
Driver reach is mostly local here; FMCSA’s carrier census records 15 drivers working within 100 miles and 8 going beyond it. If your truck is kept at your home or a nearby lot between jobs, that is where we collect it, so tell us the address.
Shop floors, job sites and tomato greenhouses
Of the 2,063 jobs located in East Cleveland during 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place 58, a 2.8 percent slice, in manufacturing. Box trucks and straight trucks that serve shops and plants in town are welcome; send the body length and liftgate details with your photos.
East Cleveland has 4 construction establishments on the books of the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Dump trucks and flatbeds from a contractor are part of what we buy; if the truck carries a plow mount or a crane, mention it so the listing matches what we will see on site.
Across Cuyahoga County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 104 farms, with tomatoes, cut flowers and cultivated greens, and equine operations at the top. A stake truck or horse hauler from one of those farms can be sold with farm plates; bring the title and tell us which plates come off.
Getting the title and keys ready
Every sale here starts with an Ohio certificate of title in the seller’s name. If a lender is still listed on it, tell us up front, and have the lien release or the lender’s contact details ready.
If the title has gone missing, request a replacement from the Ohio title office before you list the truck. Keep the registration and any service records together with the keys for collection day.
The questions we get asked in East Cleveland
- My day cab stays on a lot by the Collinwood Yard ramp. Can you collect it there instead of me driving it over?Collinwood Yard sits 2.5 miles north of East Cleveland on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, and we collect from there. Name the lot and whoever opens its gate, and the pickup is planned around them.
- Will you take a bus or passenger van off an East Cleveland operator’s hands? Two East Cleveland carriers are registered for passengers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and buses and passenger vans from operators like them are on our list. Send the seat count, the VIN and photos of the interior.
- Every load my truck pulled stayed inside Ohio’s borders. Does an intrastate history matter?Thirteen of the 14 active East Cleveland carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census run intrastate, so an Ohio-only truck is the usual case here. The Ohio title and registration are what we need.
- My truck hauled from the asphalt terminal south-west of East Cleveland. Which details help? The Energy Information Administration places Cleveland - Asphalt 5.9 miles south-west of East Cleveland. Send photos of the tractor and any trailer coming with it, the VIN, and whatever terminal or service records you kept.
