Yards to the north
Day cabs shuttling past LINWOOD toward CLARE
Head 4.2 miles north-west of Fruit Hill and you reach LINWOOD, a rail yard mapped in the North American Rail Network that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintain. A tractor that shuttles freight to and from that yard is one we will look at; if it is parked near the tracks rather than at your house, give us that address and we collect it there.
CLARE, another yard on the North American Rail Network, lies 4.9 miles to the north. Owners of day cabs that have spent their shifts between CLARE and LINWOOD should send the VIN, a clear shot of the title and a few photos of the cab, chassis and tires before we schedule anything.
Bulk liquids up north
Tankers between the Kinder Morgan and Heniff gates
Kinder Morgan operates a liquid bulk terminal 4.8 miles north-west of Fruit Hill, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your tractor has pulled tank trailers in and out of that gate, keep the terminal’s site paperwork and any inspection sheets with the truck so they come along at pickup.
Heniff Transportation’s liquid bulk terminal is 4.9 miles north on the same Bureau of Transportation Statistics list. Tell us whether you are selling the tractor alone or the tanker with it; a trailer carries its own title, and have the registration for each unit in hand.
The CINCINNATI NORTH petroleum product terminal, which the Energy Information Administration places 9.2 miles north-west of Fruit Hill, loads fuel rigs too. Fuel-hauling tractors from that rack fall within what we buy; a service log from your shop, if you kept one, should be photographed alongside the truck.
Hauling sand and stone out of Evans Gravel
Mine Safety and Health Administration records list Evans Gravel as a sand and gravel operation, 5.7 miles north-east of the Fruit Hill streets. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump tractors that load at a pit like that are trucks we purchase from their owners.
When the dump body sits on its own frame or was added later, say so up front and photograph the body plate. A truck still parked at the pit can stay there; we come to the site once the owner tells us how to reach it.
Riverfront boxes
The Cincinnati port and Gest Street ramp
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics records the Cincinnati, OH port 8.9 miles north-west of Fruit Hill, and the Gest Street rail intermodal ramp 9.6 miles to the west. Both draw tractors pulling chassis and flatbeds along the Ohio River side of the city.
For a container tractor that has worked Gest Street, start with the VIN and the odometer reading, then the cab and frame photos. Those details let us ask about your truck instead of the route it ran.
Local jobs and farms
Fruit Hill jobs and Hamilton County fields
Fruit Hill held 612 jobs in 2023, going by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES). A pickup or box truck from a small local business here is as welcome as a road tractor; the title in the business’s name is what we need to see.
Hamilton County had 322 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with corn, soybeans and cattle at the top of its list. Grain trucks, cattle haulers and farm-plated straight trucks from the county are part of what we take, so mention any farm plates when you get in touch.
Sorting the Fruit Hill title before collection
A lost Ohio title is replaced through the state’s title agency, and the duplicate should be in hand before collection day. If a lender still appears on it, bring the lien release letter as well.
For a truck owned through a company, have the person who can sign for the business available, along with the registration and a photo ID. Loose paperwork for the trailer, the dump body or the tank goes in the same folder.
The questions we get asked in Fruit Hill
- My tractor runs between the LINWOOD yard and the Kinder Morgan terminal. Does a yard-to-terminal tractor like mine fit what you collect?LINWOOD is 4.2 miles from Fruit Hill on the North American Rail Network and Kinder Morgan’s terminal is 4.8 miles off per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and tractors from either are in scope. A VIN and cab photos let us open the conversation about that rig.
- Would you take a tri-axle that loads at Evans Gravel?Evans Gravel, 5.7 miles north-east in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, is the kind of pit whose dump trucks we buy. Photograph the body plate along with the chassis.
- Is a Hamilton County grain or cattle truck something you collect?Hamilton County counted 322 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and grain, cattle and farm-plated trucks from them qualify. Keep the farm registration with the title for collection day.
- My Ohio title went missing; where does a Fruit Hill seller get the duplicate?Ohio duplicates come from the state’s title agency, and the replacement needs to be in your hands before we collect the truck.
