South-east by rail
Two Canton rail yards just past eight miles out
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the CANTON yard 8.7 miles south-east of Greentown and the EAST END yard 8.8 miles out on that same bearing. A day cab or straight truck that shuttles freight between those two yards and Greentown is a truck we will look at, so tell us which yard it served when you first get in touch.
If the tractor still sits at a yard lot rather than at your house, give us the gate details and the name of whoever can let a driver in. We collect from the spot it is parked, so moving it home first is not a step you need to take.
Have the VIN, the plate and a few clear photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel on hand before you call. Those three things let us talk about your specific tractor from the first message.
Fuel runs ten miles either way from Greentown
According to the Energy Information Administration, a petroleum product terminal named CANTON lies 9.8 miles south of Greentown, and another, TALLMADGE, lies 9.9 miles north. A fuel tanker based here can reach either one in under ten miles, whichever direction the load runs.
When you sell a tank truck or a tractor that pulled a tank trailer, list the terminals it loaded at and keep any inspection certificates for the tank together with the title. Send a photo of the tank’s data plate along with the usual shots of the cab and chassis.
Say plainly whether the tank or trailer is included or only the power unit is for sale. Either one is fine; we just need to know which before we arrange the pickup.
Gravel to the south-west
Pits off the south-west side of Greentown
Records from the Mine Safety and Health Administration list American Sand & Gravel - Plant #4 at 8.8 miles south-west of town and a second sand and gravel operation, registered as Rohr & Sons Nursery &Tree Farm, at 9.6 miles out in the same direction. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump trailers are the usual equipment around pits like these.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration also records CCU Tuscarawas Strip, a coal preparation plant 22.9 miles south. If your dump truck worked any of these sites, tell us which ones and send photos of the body, hoist and frame from both sides.
Leave the truck parked at the pit or at your own yard, whichever is easier. Tell us whether a loaded hauler can get in and out, and we plan the collection around that access.
Warehouse and site work
Box trucks for wholesale, dumps for the builders
Greentown counted 791 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES), spread across the employers based in and around town. In that same LEHD count, 78 were in wholesale trade, a 9.9 percent share, and 55 were in construction, which works out to 7 percent.
Wholesale work tends to run box trucks, reefers and day cabs; construction work runs dumps, flatbeds and service bodies. If one of yours is parked at a job site or a warehouse dock around town, we can collect it from there once the owner of the lot knows we are coming.
A small contractor or distributor selling several units at once should send one list with each VIN and where each vehicle sits. We go through them one at a time and set a single pickup plan.
Milk tanks, corn bins
Milk, corn and soybean haulers around Greentown
Greentown’s surrounding farm country appears in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, which counts 1,431 farms in Stark County and lists milk, corn and soybeans as the top products there. Milk tankers, grain trucks and tractors pulling hopper trailers all serve operations like these.
A farm truck often sits in a barn lot or field edge for part of the year. That is where we collect it, so send the farm address and a note on whether the lane is open to a large hauler in wet weather.
Bring the title, the registration and any farm-plate paperwork together before you contact us, and include photos of the grain body or tank as well as the cab.
North Canton clerk
A lost title is handled just outside Greentown
Ohio titles are handled by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles through its County Clerk of Courts title offices. For Greentown the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles lists the Stark County Clerk of Courts Title Office at 3179 Whitewood Street Nw, North Canton, 44720, about 1.5 miles from town.
If the title is missing or still shows a lender, sort it out at that clerk’s office before the sale. Tell us where things stand when you first contact us, so we know which documents to expect at pickup.
Bring a photo ID and the vehicle’s VIN to the clerk’s counter, and keep the registration handy in case they ask to see it.
