Freight, machinery, grain
Twenty-nine active carriers list a LaGrange address in FMCSA’s carrier census, and 16 of them say they move general freight. If yours was one of those box or van trucks, send the VIN, a photo of the cab and the plate, and tell us where it is parked today.
Machinery and large objects come next, with 10 carriers on that line of the FMCSA census, while dry bulk and grain, feed and hay account for five apiece. Lowboys, flatbeds, hoppers and grain trailers all fit what we purchase, so tell us which body or trailer goes with the tractor before we schedule anything.
Of those 29 carriers, 21 operate only inside Ohio and 8 cross state lines, the federal carrier census shows, and 10 of them run private fleets hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck often carries a company name on the door; leave the lettering on and simply tell us whose name the title is in.
From big yards to single tractors
Two big operators and a long tail of small ones
The census lists one LaGrange carrier with 49 power units and 49 drivers, another with 48 units and 54 drivers, and a third at 7 units, according to FMCSA records. Selling several trucks at once from a yard like those is one conversation with us: send a list of VINs and the yard address together.
An owner-operator selling the only tractor should keep the registration, the title and any service records in one folder so the whole sale runs from your kitchen table.
Among the 10 LaGrange carriers reporting annual mileage to FMCSA, the median truck logged 29,402 miles a year. A LaGrange seller who reads the odometer off the dash before phoning saves a second call to us later.
LaGrange drivers who haul far from the village
FMCSA’s census shows 157 of the 207 drivers at these carriers working beyond a hundred-mile radius, with the other 50 staying closer in. A long-haul tractor might be parked out of state when you decide to sell; we collect where it sits, so give us that address rather than bringing the truck home first.
Between October 2024 and August 2026, inspectors stopped 96 trucks belonging to LaGrange carriers, by FMCSA roadside inspection records. In those inspection records the median model year falls between 2020 and 2021, and 14.6 percent were ten or more model years old. Whatever the year, photos of the cab, frame, tires and data plate let us match the truck to its paperwork.
North toward the lake
Elyria and South Lorain yards, the Lorain terminal
Just 9.6 miles north of the village, the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places a rail yard at Elyria, with a second at South Lorain 14.3 miles north. A day cab that shuttled loads to either yard can be collected from its lot; tell us the gate hours and who holds the keys.
A petroleum product terminal at Lorain sits 6.6 miles north-east, and the Energy Information Administration lists another, the Owens Corning roofing and asphalt division terminal, 13.6 miles south-east. If your tanker or tractor served those terminals, list the trailer you pulled and any site inspection sheets you kept.
Stone and fields
Cleveland Quarries and Lorain County farm ground
West of LaGrange by 15.1 miles, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Cleveland Quarries, a dimension-stone operation. Dump trucks and flatbeds that carried block from there are trucks we collect at the quarry or at your yard, so tell us which.
Around the village, 894 farms operate across Lorain County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture reports, with soybeans, corn and cattle at the top. Grain trucks and livestock haulers often sit in a barn lot between seasons; describe the access lane so the collection truck can reach yours.
Factory and building jobs inside LaGrange
Manufacturing held 369 of the 1,444 jobs counted inside LaGrange in 2023, a 25.6 percent share, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks and tractors that moved parts between plants are part of what we purchase; bring the registration and title to the first call.
Construction made up 145 of those jobs, and the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns counts 22 construction establishments here. Dump trucks, mixers and equipment haulers from those firms can be sold straight from the job site once the work is done.
Elyria, Middle Avenue
The Clerk of Courts office on Middle Avenue
Titles in Ohio run through the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, which handles them at County Clerk of Courts title offices. The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles lists the one serving LaGrange as the Lorain County Clerk of Courts Title Office at 226 Middle Avenue, Elyria, 44035, about 8.7 miles from the village.
If the title is missing, ask that Elyria office for a duplicate before we arrange collection, and bring your identification and the VIN. A title in a business name needs someone authorised to sign for that business, so tell us who that will be.
The questions we get asked in LaGrange
- Will you collect a soybean or corn hauler from a farm outside LaGrange?Lorain County has 894 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with soybeans and corn leading, and grain trucks from them are part of what we purchase. A photo of the bed and the VIN from the door jamb start the conversation.
