Benchmark Biodiesel and Columbus West, just north-east of Lincoln Village
The Energy Information Administration places two petroleum product terminals close to Lincoln Village: Benchmark Biodiesel at 1.4 miles north-east and Columbus West at 1.5 miles in the same direction. A tractor that loads at either rack is usually a day cab pulling a fuel tank trailer, and it is often parked within sight of the terminal gate. Tell us which of the two it served and whether the tanker goes with the tractor or stays behind.
If your fuel tractor is parked on terminal property, give us the name of whoever controls that lot and a phone number for the gate. Have the Ohio title and current registration in the cab or in your hand, along with any hazmat placard or tank inspection paperwork you kept. Those papers let us confirm what the unit hauled without a second trip.
Biodiesel and petroleum loads at those two racks can mean a tractor plated for fuel work that never leaves this corner of Franklin County. Photos of the VIN plate, the odometer, the fifth wheel and both sides of the cab are the four shots that answer most of our first questions about a fuel unit here.
Buckeye Yard and its intermodal ramp
North of town, the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Buckeye rail yard 2.6 miles away. Just beyond it, at 3.3 miles north, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records the Columbus, OH - Buckeye Yard intermodal ramp. Drayage tractors that shuttle containers off that ramp are the ones we expect to hear about from Lincoln Village owners.
A container chassis tractor from Buckeye Yard may be sitting in a drop lot rather than at your house. Send us the street address of the lot, say whether a chassis is still hooked up, and have the title ready to sign over. If the registration has lapsed, tell us up front so the pickup is planned around it.
Further east, the same rail network records lists the Parsons yard 9 miles from Lincoln Village, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal 9.7 miles east. A tanker or day cab working the Transflo transload is still close enough that we collect it where it is parked.
Two crushed-stone quarries, north-east and south-east
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Marble Cliff Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, 4 miles north-east of Lincoln Village, and HAZMAG #1, another crushed-stone quarry, 6.9 miles south-east. Dump trucks and tri-axles hauling aggregate out of those two pits are part of what we buy from owners in this part of Franklin County.
When a dump truck is parked at a quarry rather than a yard, access is the first thing to sort out. Name the quarry, tell us who can let a driver through the gate, and send photos of the body, the hoist and the VIN plate. Keep the title and any maintenance log in one envelope so nothing is missing on collection day.
Sixty-six freight and warehouse jobs in town
Of the 4,349 jobs counted in Lincoln Village for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 66 fall in transportation and warehousing, a 1.5 percent share.
If you run one or two trucks out of a driveway or a rented spot near Lincoln Village, you do not need a fleet office to sell. One title, the registration card and a few clear photos are enough for us to start. If the title carries a lienholder, tell us their name so the release can be handled before pickup.
Soybeans, corn and potted plants across Franklin County
Franklin County holds 372 farms on USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture tally, and soybeans lead its crop list ahead of corn and potted flowering plants. Grain trucks that move soybeans and corn at harvest, and box trucks that carry potted plants from greenhouses, both turn up on farms around Lincoln Village.
A farm truck that is only used at harvest may be registered differently from a road tractor, so check what plates it carries before you call. Have the title in the farm owner’s name, note where on the property the truck is parked, and photograph the bed or box along with the cab.
The questions we get asked in Lincoln Village
- Can my fuel tractor stay parked by the Columbus West rack while you collect it?Columbus West sits 1.5 miles north-east of Lincoln Village on the Energy Information Administration’s list, and we collect the tractor there. Send the terminal gate number and which bay or row the tractor sits in.
- Which papers matter for a drayage tractor that runs the Buckeye Yard ramp? The Buckeye Yard intermodal ramp, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 3.3 miles north of town, is where most container work around here starts; for that tractor, have the Ohio title, the registration and photos of the VIN plate and odometer, and tell us if a chassis is attached.
- Will you take a tri-axle that hauls stone out of the Marble Cliff Quarry?Marble Cliff Quarry and HAZMAG #1 are both crushed-stone quarries on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list near town, and dump trucks working either one are trucks we buy. Tell us which quarry and who opens the gate.
