A ramp on the west edge, a yard to the south-east
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places Maple Heights Intermodal just 0.3 miles west of town. A day cab that shuttles boxes off that ramp is probably parked within sight of it, so give us the street address of the lot and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
South-east of town, 4.9 miles out, the North American Rail Network shows the Motor yard. If your tractor has been working between the two yards, note which one it calls home and send us photos of the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel taken where it sits.
Terminals toward the lake
According to the Energy Information Administration, the Cuyahoga petroleum product terminal stands 5 miles west and the Cleveland terminal 6.8 miles north-west. If your tank tractor loads at those racks, tell us which one it served and keep its registration and any tank or hazmat paperwork together in the cab.
Transflo CSXT, at 7.5 miles, and Cleveland Terminal, at 8 miles, both appear as liquid bulk terminals in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. We collect a tractor parked near either one from where it stands; it does not have to come back to Maple Heights first.
Who holds the operating authority here
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 153 active carriers based in Maple Heights; 102 of them run intrastate only, 51 cross state lines, and 36 are private fleets hauling their own goods. For an Ohio-only operator, the Ohio title and current registration are the two papers to find first.
General freight is the cargo listed by 116 of those carriers in the federal census, with motor vehicles named by 18, driveaway and towaway by 14, and metal sheets, coils and rolls also by 14. A car hauler or a flatbed set up for coil is something to describe in your first message, with the trailer listed separately if it is part of the sale.
The three biggest local fleets in FMCSA filings run 31, 15 and 7 power units, and new registrations in that census numbered 21 in 2025 against 17 in 2024. Whether you are winding down a seven-truck outfit or selling the single tractor you started with last year, list each VIN so we can work through them one at a time.
Drivers split near and far
Driver records in FMCSA’s carrier census split almost evenly: 212 drivers stay within 100 miles and 222 go beyond it. A long-haul tractor may be several states away when you decide to sell, so tell us where it is right now rather than where it is registered.
A median 15,625 miles per truck each year is what FMCSA’s carrier census shows for the 26 Maple Heights carriers that file mileage. Have the current odometer reading and your service records ready, since those two items answer most of what we ask first.
Whatever the model year, the paperwork we need stays the same: the title, the registration and a clear set of photos. If the original Ohio title is lost, the state’s title agency issues duplicates; start that request before you contact us and mention it in your first message.
Jobs, yards and county farms
Wholesale trade accounts for 699 of the 4,322 jobs located in Maple Heights in 2023, about 16.2 percent, per the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts; manufacturing adds 226, transportation and warehousing 144 and construction 113. Box trucks and tractors serving those wholesale docks are usually parked at the distributor, so ask the yard manager when we can reach the truck.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 15 construction establishments and 7 warehousing establishments in town. Across Cuyahoga County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 104 farms, led by tomatoes, cut flowers and greens, and horses; a dump truck or farm hauler parked at a job site or a barn can be collected right there.
Roads and clearance
Nine spans and one posted limit
Of the 9 Maple Heights bridges in the National Bridge Inventory, one carries a posted load limit and not one clears less than 14 feet. Let us know if the lot holding your truck sits beyond that posted span so the pickup route can avoid it.
For a tractor tucked behind a business or at the end of a narrow residential lane, send a photo of the approach along with the truck itself, and say whether a trailer needs moving before we can hook up.
The questions we get asked in Maple Heights
- My tractor sits beside the Maple Heights Intermodal ramp; will you pick it up from that lot?Maple Heights Intermodal sits 0.3 miles west of town on the North American Rail Network, and we pick up from that area. Pass along the yard’s address plus the name of whoever opens it near the ramp.
- My Ohio title for a Maple Heights truck has gone missing; who issues a duplicate?Ohio’s state title agency issues duplicate titles for trucks registered in Maple Heights and the rest of Cuyahoga County. Request one there, and tell us it is on the way when you reach out.
- I pull steel coil on a flatbed out of Maple Heights; is that tractor one you would purchase?Metal sheets, coils and rolls are hauled by 14 Maple Heights carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and we buy the tractors that do that work. Send the VIN, the odometer reading and photos of the tractor and the flatbed.
- My truck sits at the Cleveland fuel terminal rather than in Maple Heights; can it be collected there? The Energy Information Administration places the Cleveland terminal 6.8 miles north-west of Maple Heights, and a truck parked there can be collected on site. Check with the terminal on gate access and pass that along to us.
