Tiger, Massillon Materials and the coal ground beyond
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Tiger Sand & Gravel LLC 0.4 miles south-east of town and Massillon Materials II 1.5 miles to the south. If your dump truck or tri-axle loads at either pit, it may be sitting on a gravel lot when we arrive, so give us the gate hours and the name of whoever can let us in.
Dry bulk is listed as cargo by 21 Massillon-based carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census. For an aggregate hauler, send a photo of the body and the hoist along with the cab and the VIN plate, and tell us the body length so we know what kind of trailer to bring for collection.
Further south, CCU Tuscarawas Strip, a coal preparation plant, is 12.5 miles out and the KIMBLE #1 coal mine is 18.4 miles away, both on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. Our pickup can happen at either site, and the truck stays put until then.
Coil, machinery and the factory trade
Of 16,093 jobs placed in Massillon by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, factory work holds 4,689, a 29.1 percent slice. The LEHD counts add 851 wholesale trade jobs and 551 in construction.
Among the city’s carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 29 list metal sheets, coils and rolls and 35 list machinery and large objects. If your tractor has pulled a flatbed or a coil trailer to plants around Canton, tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale, and have the registration for each unit ready, since a tractor and a trailer each carry their own paperwork.
The TIMKEN rail yard is 5.1 miles east of the city on the North American Rail Network. If your truck shuttles loads between that yard and nearby shops, a photo of the fifth wheel and the deck tells us how it is set up before we come to see it.
Who holds a DOT number on this side of Stark County
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 172 active carriers with a Massillon address: 78 run interstate, 93 stay inside Ohio, and 54 are private fleets hauling their own goods. General freight is the cargo 113 of them list with FMCSA. Whichever group yours belongs to, the title in the registered owner’s name is the first document we ask about.
New registrations in that census numbered 22 in 2024 and 7 so far in 2025. Three Massillon outfits in FMCSA’s census each field a sizeable fleet: one with 152 power units and 159 drivers, one with 135 and 160, and one with 72 tractors for 128 drivers. A one-truck owner and a fleet manager selling several units go through the same steps with us: a VIN, photos, and an address for each truck.
Forty-nine local carriers file mileage with FMCSA, and their median truck logs 19,524 miles yearly. FMCSA registrations also count 362 drivers working within 100 miles and 641 beyond it. If your truck is out on a run, tell us where it will be parked when it is back.
Massillon trucks by model year, from the roadside
Across 223 trucks from Massillon carriers checked between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year at 2021. A 26.5 percent share of those 223 inspected Massillon trucks, per FMCSA’s roadside records, carried a model year a decade or more back.
We buy trucks from across that range. Whatever the model year, have the title, the current registration and any service records together in one folder, and include the latest inspection report if you kept it.
Rail yards, terminals and bridges around town
NEOMODAL, a rail yard listed on the North American Rail Network, is 3.5 miles south of Massillon. The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals named CANTON to the east, one 5.8 miles out and one 8.9 miles out. A truck parked at a yard or terminal lot can be picked up there once you tell us who controls access.
The National Bridge Inventory counts 22 bridges in Massillon, with 2 posted for load limits and none under 14 feet of clearance. Give us the exact street address of the truck so the route to it can be planned around those posted spans.
Dairy, corn and soybean country in Stark County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,431 farms in Stark County, with milk, corn and soybeans at the top of the list. A grain truck or a farm straight truck kept in a barn outside Massillon can be collected from the farm itself.
If the truck has been on the farm for years, check that the title is in your name rather than a parent’s or a partnership’s before you contact us. County Business Patterns lists 78 construction establishments alongside those farms, and a contractor’s straight truck or dump body is collected from the yard in the same way.
