Cargill, Ford and the Maumee Quarry within a mile
Barely 0.2 miles north-east of the town centre sits the CARGILL rail yard, with the FORD yard 0.9 miles to the south-west, both mapped in the North American Rail Network that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintain. A day cab that shuttles between those sidings and nearby lots is often parked right beside them when the owner calls. Give us the yard or lot address and the name of whoever controls the gate, and we plan the collection there.
West of town by just 0.3 miles, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Maumee Quarry as a crushed-stone operation, and it records Wylie and Sons, another crushed-stone quarry, 5.9 miles east. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump tractors that load at either pit fall squarely within what we purchase. Send photos of the body, the hoist, the frame and the cab, plus the VIN, so the truck we arrive to see is the one you described.
Toledo ramps
Intermodal, fuel terminals and the airport west of town
Six miles north-east, at 6.1 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Toledo, OH rail intermodal ramp. Sleepers and day cabs that pull containers off that ramp can stay wherever they are based for the sale. Have the title and current Ohio registration in one place before we talk, since those two documents start every purchase.
On Energy Information Administration records, the TOLEDO petroleum product terminal is 9.1 miles east of Maumee and WEST TOLEDO sits 9.6 miles north-east. A tractor set up for tank work between those racks belongs on the list of trucks we take. Tell us which terminals it loaded at, and keep any site inspection sheets in the cab alongside the title.
Toledo/Exp Airport, a military installation 6.6 miles west according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is the other landmark on that side of town. If your truck is kept near the airport grounds, tell us whether a pass or escort is needed to reach it, and we arrange the pickup around that.
Steel coils, car haulers and general freight out of Maumee
Sixty-eight of the 100 active Maumee carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census put general freight on their filing. Eleven haul metal sheets, coils and rolls, eleven move motor vehicles and ten carry machinery and large objects, by that same federal census. Flatbed tractors, car haulers and lowboy rigs from those operations are all trucks we buy, with or without the trailer.
FMCSA’s carrier census splits them as 59 interstate, 40 intrastate and 38 hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck usually has a company name on the title, so check who signs before we schedule anything. Registered here as well, per FMCSA, are fleets of 250, 84 and 73 power units, and we buy one truck or several from an operation that size.
New authorities keep appearing on FMCSA’s register: 7 carriers were added in 2025 and 5 in 2024. If you started hauling recently and are now selling the tractor, have the payoff letter from your lender ready, since a lien on the title has to be released at the sale.
Driver radius, annual miles and the age of the fleet
Maumee carriers report 354 drivers working within 100 miles and 465 working beyond it, in FMCSA’s carrier census. A long-haul tractor may be parked somewhere other than Lucas County when you decide to sell, and that is fine. Tell us the city and the address where it sits, and we collect it from there.
A Maumee truck logs a median 60,000 miles a year, going by the 35 local carriers whose mileage appears in FMCSA’s carrier census. Read the odometer before you call and have that figure ready with the VIN.
When FMCSA inspectors stopped 236 Maumee-based trucks at the roadside from August 2024 to August 2026, the median model year they wrote down was 2022. FMCSA’s roadside records also show 13.6 percent of them were ten or more model years old. Whatever year yours is, keep service records and inspection reports together so they travel with the title.
Warehouse floors, building crews and corn ground
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 16,927 jobs in Maumee, with 1,877 in transportation and warehousing and 1,703 in manufacturing. Box trucks, straight trucks and yard tractors from warehouse and plant work all fit what we purchase. If the truck belongs to a business, have the officer who can sign the title available when we arrive.
In construction, County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 54 establishments, and LEHD counts 496 construction jobs and 95 in mining and quarrying. Dump trucks, mixers and service bodies from those crews are trucks we take, and a job-site location works for collection if the site lets us in.
Lucas County has 364 farms, in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and corn, soybeans and hogs lead them. A grain truck or livestock hauler parked on a farm lane can be collected where it stands; give us directions from the nearest road and note any soft ground near the barn.
Clearance and gates
Sixteen bridges, no posted limits, and open lots
Maumee’s 16 structures in the National Bridge Inventory, the Federal Highway Administration’s register, show zero weight postings and zero spans below a 14-foot clearance, so a rollback can thread from the quarry road to the rail sidings unhindered. Our carrier can reach most addresses in town without a detour, so a driveway, shop lot or quarry yard all work as pickup spots.
What slows a collection here is usually access, not roads: a locked gate, a key held by someone away, or a truck boxed in behind other equipment. Sort those out before the day we come, and have the title, registration and keys together in the cab.
The questions we get asked in Maumee
- Our tri-axle sits in the yard at the Maumee Quarry off the west side of town; does it have to come out first? The Mine Safety and Health Administration places the Maumee Quarry 0.3 miles west of town, and we collect the truck there. Tell us who at the quarry can let our driver in.
- Would you take a coil-hauling flatbed tractor based in Maumee?Eleven Maumee carriers haul metal sheets, coils and rolls in FMCSA’s carrier census, and their tractors are trucks we purchase, with or without the flatbed. Photos of the deck, the chains and binders, and the cab help us picture the rig.
- The sleeper I own is hundreds of miles from Lucas County this week; can the sale still go ahead from Maumee?Maumee carriers report 465 drivers working beyond 100 miles in FMCSA’s carrier census, so trucks here are often away from home. Tell us where yours will be parked and we arrange collection at that address.
- Is a grain or hog truck off a Lucas County farm something you’d collect?USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 364 farms in Lucas County, growing mostly corn and soybeans and raising hogs, and grain trucks and livestock haulers from them are trucks we buy. Have the title in the name of whoever will sign it.
