Quarries east of town and a strip mine to the south-east
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Sergeants Plant, a crushed-stone quarry, 9.3 miles east of New Lexington, and Fultonham Plant, another crushed-stone operation, 9.9 miles to the north-east. Dump trucks and tri-axles that cycle between those pits and job sites often sit parked at the quarry gate or a contractor’s yard rather than at home. Tell us which lot your truck is on and who holds the key, and the collection gets planned for that spot.
CCU Athens Strip, a coal mine, sits 12.6 miles south-east of town according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A tractor or haul truck from a strip site may carry its own site logs and service sheets. Gather whatever you kept, and photograph the cab, the frame and the bed as well.
Have the title in hand before you call. If it has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues the replacement, and starting that paperwork early keeps the sale from stalling at the signature.
Sand pits and the Old Town yard to the south-west
South-west of town, MSHA records two sand and gravel operations: Hocking Valley Concrete Inc at 16 miles and Plant # 8 at 16.2 miles. Mixers, dump bodies and flatbeds that load out of those pits are among the trucks we purchase from owners around New Lexington, whether the truck is still on a job or already pulled off it.
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the Old Town rail yard 16.2 miles south-west, beside those same sand pits. If your trailer or tractor is staged near the yard, send us the address and a note on whether a lowboy can reach it; that one detail settles how the pickup is arranged.
Seven carry motor vehicles, six haul farm supplies and six move machinery and large objects, so car haulers, lowboys and ag trailers all turn up in this town’s lots alongside ordinary box vans.
Of those 27 carriers, the federal census shows 19 running intrastate only and 8 authorized for interstate work, while 16 operate as private fleets hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck usually has its maintenance file in the company office; ask for a copy before the sale so the records travel with the title.
The three biggest fleets on FMCSA’s register here run 18, 9 and 6 power units, with 11, 8 and 6 drivers respectively. Selling two or three units from a small operation like that works the same as selling one: list each VIN, and we look at every truck on its own.
Driver records in FMCSA’s census put 62 drivers from New Lexington carriers within a 100-mile radius and 9 beyond it. Expect to name a yard in or near town as the pickup spot, and say who can unlock it.
Read the odometer and send that figure with the VIN at first contact; it is the first thing we record for any tractor or straight truck.
A tall load or a heavy tractor can come out of town without a detour planned around a bridge.
Corn, soybeans, hogs and the county’s employers
Grain trucks, hopper trailers and livestock haulers belong on a farm as much as in a fleet, so if yours sits in a barn lot outside town, give us the road name and we bring the truck out from there.
Within New Lexington itself, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts show 2,219 jobs in 2023, with 255 of them, or 11.5 percent, in manufacturing. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 9 construction establishments in the area; a contractor’s dump truck or service body pickup is welcome, and a current registration card helps us confirm who holds it.
Toward McConnelsville and the training site
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the NG McConnelsville Training Site 19.9 miles east of New Lexington, along the same direction as the Sergeants quarry. A truck kept out that way can be sold from where it stands, without moving it into New Lexington first.
Whichever side of town the truck is on, the steps are the same: title, registration, any service records you have, and clear photos from all four corners. Put all of them in your first message to us.
