Gravel pits and stone quarries off Newport’s road west
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Reno Plant Site, a sand and gravel operation, 8.3 miles west of Newport, and Briggs Sand and Gravel Inc farther out at 17 miles. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump trailers that load at pits like these are trucks we buy. If yours is parked at a pit gate rather than at your house, tell us which one and who holds the key, and we collect it from there.
Out to the north-east, Browns Sandstone, LLC runs a crushed-stone quarry 18.3 miles from the village, again according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and the Marietta Plant industrial-mineral mine sits 17.7 miles west. A quarry truck usually carries a body, a hoist and a tarp system, so photograph the bed raised and lowered, note the body maker if you know it, and send the VIN plate along with the pictures.
Orange Strip, a coal mine the Mine Safety and Health Administration places 20.2 miles north-west, rounds out the set. Whether your dump worked coal, sand or stone, the sale starts the same way: the title in your name, the registration, and a list of where the truck was hauling.
Tankers and day cabs
Loading fuel at Marietta, switching freight at Belpre
A petroleum product terminal at Marietta, 9.5 miles west, appears in Energy Information Administration records. Tank trucks and fuel-delivery straight trucks that load there are welcome; send pictures of the tank, its plate and the pump or meter equipment, and any tank test certificates you have kept, since they let us see the unit without a guess.
Rail traffic shows up in the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, which places the Belpre rail yard 21.2 miles west. Tractors that shuttle freight to and from a yard like that are often day cabs; give us the cab type, the axle setup and the odometer reading in your first message and the rest of our questions get shorter.
The sale does not have to happen at either site. Leave the truck in the lot it normally sits in near Marietta or Belpre, give us the address and a phone number for whoever can open the gate, and we arrange the pickup around that person.
Bulk milk, cattle and grain haulers near Newport
Around Newport, the farm sector is sizeable: USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,088 farms in Washington County, led by cattle, corn and milk. Livestock haulers, grain trucks and bulk milk tankers come out of that mix, and we buy each of them. If the truck lives in a barn lot or a field, tell us whether a tow truck can reach the spot and describe the lane in.
Farm trucks often carry farm plates or an older registration in a family member’s name. Before you contact us, check that the name on the title matches yours; if it belongs to a relative or an old farm partnership, say so up front and we will tell you what paperwork closes the gap.
Dumps and service bodies from Newport’s building trades
Newport has four construction establishments, by the count in County Business Patterns for the village. An outfit that size usually keeps a dump truck, a flatbed and a utility body or two, and a contractor selling one of them gets the same pickup a fleet would.
If the truck has a crane, a liftgate or a plow mount, name it when you write in and include a photo of the equipment tag. Bring out any service records you have kept in the cab or the office; they are optional, but they answer questions before we need to ask them.
Twelve miles to the Gross Street clerk
Ohio titles are handled by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles through County Clerk of Courts title offices. For Newport sellers the nearest is the Washington County Clerk of Courts Title Office at 146 B Gross Street, Frontier Shopping Center, Marietta, 45750, which the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles places 12.2 miles from the village.
If the title is missing, that Gross Street office is where a duplicate is applied for. Take your identification and the VIN with you, and if a lender was once listed on the title, bring the lien release. Once the replacement is in hand, send us a photo of both sides and we can move to the pickup.
