Toledo and Oregon racks
Two fuel terminals a few miles from Northwood
The Energy Information Administration places the TOLEDO petroleum product terminal 1.9 miles north-west of Northwood and the OREGON terminal 3.3 miles to the north-east. A tractor that has pulled fuel tankers between those two racks may be parked at either one when we arrange collection, so give us the gate and the name of whoever holds the key.
If your tractor has loaded at the Toledo or Oregon rack, keep its loading-site paperwork with the title and registration. Terminal entry records and annual inspection sheets tell us where the truck has worked, and photos of the cab, the fifth wheel and the tank connections round out that picture.
Sidings and docks
Rail yards at Walbridge and Rossford, and the port to the north
Two yards from the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, sit 3 miles out: WALBRIDGE to the south and ROSSFORD to the west. Day cabs that shuttle between those sidings tend to stay close to home, so the pickup is usually a short trip from wherever the truck last dropped its trailer.
Five miles north, at 5.2 miles by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ measure, lies the Toledo-Lucas County Port, and the same agency lists the Toledo intermodal ramp 5.8 miles to the west. If your truck is sitting near the docks or the ramp rather than at your house, send us that address; we come to the truck and you do not have to move it across the river.
For a container chassis puller or a flatbed that has run steel off the port, a VIN, an odometer photo and a clear shot of the deck are the first three things we ask for. Everything after that is about matching the paperwork to the tractor.
South-west pits
Quarry trucks from Wylie and Sons and Cardinal Aggregate
Mine Safety and Health Administration listings put the Wylie and Sons crushed-stone quarry 5.9 miles south-west of Northwood, with Cardinal Aggregate 6.6 miles out in that same direction. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump tractors that haul stone from those pits are trucks we purchase, and the quarry lot is a fine place for us to meet them.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 20 construction establishments in the area, and the LEHD job counts show 334 construction jobs in 2023. If your dump truck has split its time between quarry runs and job sites, tell us which site it is parked at today and whether a loader is needed to clear a path to it.
Hauliers on the census
What the FMCSA carrier census shows for Northwood
Northwood has 45 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, and 21 of them list general freight as a cargo, with 8 listing machinery and large objects. Six carry dry bulk commodities and another six haul metal sheets, coils and rolls, which points to flatbeds, hoppers and coil-rated trailers working out of town.
Of those 45 carriers, 30 are authorised for interstate work and 15 stay inside Ohio, while 34 run as private fleets moving their own goods, according to the federal carrier census. Interstate tractors often carry an IFTA decal and an apportioned plate, so have the cab card ready alongside the Ohio title when you contact us.
Three fleets based in Northwood report 122, 94 and 33 power units to FMCSA, and the census added 4 new carriers in 2025 after 3 in 2024. Whether you are selling one tractor from a small operation or several units from a bigger yard, a list of VINs with each truck’s location gets things started.
Short-haul miles
Driving ranges and truck years among Northwood carriers
Carriers here report 460 drivers working within 100 miles and 139 working beyond that range, by FMCSA’s census figures. FMCSA’s carrier census puts the median at 20,999 miles per truck a year across 24 carriers that report mileage, and a short-haul truck like that is most often parked back at its home yard in the evening.
Between September 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records logged 120 trucks belonging to Northwood carriers; their median model year is 2023, and one in ten is a decade or more past its model year. Keep your most recent roadside inspection report with the truck’s file; it confirms the VIN and plate in a single document.
Plants, docks, soybeans
Factory jobs, warehouses and Wood County farms
Of 7,296 jobs counted for 2023 in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, manufacturing accounts for 2,279, or 31.2 percent. The same LEHD figures give wholesale trade 712 jobs and transportation and warehousing 627, and box trucks and straight trucks running between plants and distribution docks are a familiar sight on local roads.
Wood County has 1,151 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, where soybeans, corn and milk lead the list. Grain trucks and milk tankers that work those farms can be collected from the farmyard itself; just tell us which road the gate is on and whether the lane will carry a tow truck after rain.
Of the 15 Northwood-area bridges in the National Bridge Inventory, not one carries a load posting and not one clears less than 14 feet. A tall tanker or a loaded tri-axle can reach most collection points here without a detour, which makes a farm or yard pickup simple to plan.
The questions we get asked in Northwood
- My tanker sits by the Oregon fuel terminal, so must I haul it over to Northwood first? The OREGON terminal is 3.3 miles north-east of Northwood on the Energy Information Administration’s map, and a tanker parked beside it is collected right there. Tell us who controls the lot so the gate can be opened when we arrive.
- Do you take dump trucks that haul from the quarries south-west of town?Wylie and Sons sits 5.9 miles south-west of Northwood and Cardinal Aggregate 6.6 miles, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and dump trucks from both are welcome. Along with the VIN and the Ohio title, photograph the dump body from each side and the cab interior.
- My grain truck is on a Wood County farm; will you collect it from the farmyard?Wood County counts 1,151 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and we collect grain trucks and milk tankers right where they are parked. Share the farm’s road address and the name of whoever will meet us at the barn.
- What should I have ready for an interstate tractor based in Northwood?FMCSA’s carrier census shows 30 Northwood carriers authorised for interstate work, and their tractors usually carry apportioned plates. Have the Ohio title, the cab card and your latest roadside inspection report on hand.
