Two Moraine rail yards just west of Oakwood
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Moraine yard 2.3 miles west of Oakwood and a second yard, Moraine TV, 3 miles to the south-west. A day cab that shuttles freight to and from those tracks may be parked on a Moraine lot rather than on an Oakwood street, and that is fine: give us the lot address and we collect it there.
If the tractor has been pulling rail drayage around Moraine, put together the title, the current registration and any service records before you call. Photos of the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel let us see the truck before we arrive at the yard gate.
Fuel loads out of the Dayton terminal
Four and a half miles north, at 4.6 miles by the Energy Information Administration’s listing, Dayton has a petroleum product terminal. Tank tractors that load there and deliver across the south suburbs are trucks we buy, with or without the tanker behind them.
When you contact us about a fuel tractor, tell us whether the trailer goes with it and send its VIN as well as the tractor’s. Any inspection paperwork you kept for tank work helps us read the truck’s history alongside the pictures.
Pits and a quarry ringing Oakwood on three sides
Mine Safety and Health Administration records list a West Carrollton sand and gravel operation 5.8 miles south-west, plus Xenia Sand & Gravel 10.1 miles east. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that haul out of pits like these fit what we purchase.
North of town, the same Mine Safety and Health Administration listing shows a crushed-stone quarry at Huber Heights, 11.1 miles away. If your dump truck is kept at a pit or a paving yard, we can pick it up on site; let us know who can let us in and send a photo of the body and the hoist.
Tri-axle dumps, tandems and roll-offs all work this kind of ground. Say which body is fitted and its length, and include the plate number from the registration so the paperwork matches what we load.
Air base
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base lies 9.4 miles north-east of Oakwood, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Box trucks and straight trucks that make deliveries out that way are welcome here, from a single unit to several.
Should the truck sit at a contractor yard near the base, give us that address instead of your home one. Base access rules belong to the base, so a truck parked outside the fence is the easier collection for everyone.
Oakwood’s workforce and its ten builders
For 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 1,916 jobs inside Oakwood’s limits, a small suburban workforce beside Dayton. Service vans, pickups with utility bodies and small box trucks are the kind of vehicles that work a town of that size, and we buy them as readily as tractors.
In County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau, Oakwood has 10 construction establishments. A contractor with a dump truck, a flatbed or a crew cab to sell can send us the VIN, the title and a few clear photos to start.
Corn, beans and cattle across Montgomery County
Montgomery County holds 789 farms growing mainly corn and soybeans and raising cattle, as USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records them. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and farm tractors with hopper trailers come from that kind of farming.
A farm truck often stays in a barn or a field lane out of town. Tell us the farm address and whether a rollback can reach it after rain, and keep the title in the name of whoever is signing.
The questions we get asked in Oakwood
- My tractor stays at a yard over in Moraine rather than in Oakwood itself; is that a problem for pickup?Moraine’s rail yard sits 2.3 miles west of Oakwood on the North American Rail Network, close enough that we treat it as the same pickup. Share the Moraine yard’s street address and the name of whoever unlocks it.
- Fuel loads from the Dayton petroleum terminal are my regular run; would you take the tanker tractor? The Dayton petroleum product terminal, 4.6 miles north per the Energy Information Administration, loads the kind of tank trucks we buy. Send the VIN of the tractor and, if it is part of the sale, the tanker.
- My dumper hauls out of the West Carrollton sand and gravel site. Which papers should travel with the dumper? The West Carrollton sand and gravel operation, 5.8 miles out by the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s records, is a site we can collect from. Bring together the Ohio title, the current registration card and pictures showing the dump body raised on its hoist.
- Is a grain or cattle truck from a Montgomery County farm something you’d buy?Montgomery County’s 789 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture raise corn, soybeans and cattle, and grain and livestock trucks from them are welcome. Point us to the barn, shed or field lane where it is parked on the farm.
