In that FMCSA census, two of them run four power units each and a third runs three. An owner-driver can give us the parking address and a viewing time in one phone call.
Of those 11, the federal census marks 7 as intrastate and 4 as interstate, and 5 operate as private fleets hauling their own company’s goods. A tractor or straight truck from a private fleet is usually titled to the business, not to a driver, so have the company officer who signs for it lined up before you send photos.
FMCSA’s census shows all 11 carriers sending drivers within 100 miles, and 9 also going past that radius. A long-haul truck may be sitting in a yard in another state when you decide to sell; tell us the town it is in and we collect it there.
Coil, vehicles and machinery
General freight is the cargo most often listed, by 5 Sebring carriers in FMCSA’s census, and 4 list metal sheets, coils and rolls. Coil work usually means a flatbed or a tractor paired with one, so when you contact us say whether the trailer is part of the sale and send a photo of the deck and the securement points.
Motor vehicles show up on 4 carrier filings in FMCSA’s census, and machinery and large objects on 2. Car haulers and lowboys carry more equipment than a plain tractor: ramps, winches, hydraulic decks. List what is fitted and include a picture of each piece so the description and the photos agree.
If your rig hauled two kinds of freight under one authority, mention both. We ask about the body, the trailer coupling and the paperwork, and knowing the loads it carried tells us which questions to skip.
Box trucks and tractors that serve plant shipping docks are among the vehicles we buy; have the registration and any service records together, since a plant truck often has a maintenance log kept by the company.
Wholesale trade accounts for another 225 jobs, 13.9 percent of the total on those LEHD figures. A delivery truck from a distributor is often one of several identical units, so give us the VIN of the exact truck you are selling rather than a fleet number.
Dump trucks and equipment haulers from contractors belong on our list as well; tell us the body type and send a photo of the plate on the door frame.
Gravel, shale and rail nearby
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Solomon’s Mines Inc., a sand and gravel operation 12.4 miles east, and Rootstown Sand & Gravel 18.6 miles north-west. Shale Pit 002, an industrial-mineral mine, is 18.4 miles south-east on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list. A dump truck parked at one of these sites can be collected there; give us the name of whoever controls the gate.
Two rail yards appear on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: Minerva, 14.7 miles south, and Canton, 16.7 miles west. If your tractor works drayage out of either yard, tell us which one and whether it is usually left there between loads.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places Buckeye Transfer, a liquid bulk terminal, 16.3 miles east, and the Energy Information Administration lists a Canton petroleum product terminal 19.5 miles west. A tanker or a tractor set up for tank work should come with whatever terminal paperwork you kept, along with the title.
Milk, soybeans and corn
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 661 farms in Mahoning County, and milk, soybeans and corn top the list by sales. Grain trucks and milk haulers that stay on a farm for years are often titled to the farm itself, so find out whose name is on the title before you get in touch.
A farm truck can be picked up from the barn lot or field edge where it sits. Send a photo of the bed or tank, the cab and the odometer, plus a note on how to reach it from the road.
If it is lost, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and the request should be started before collection is booked so the paper is in hand on the day.
Alongside the title, keep the current registration, the VIN and any inspection or service records together. NG Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center, 19.4 miles north on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, keeps its own gate rules, so a truck parked on a secured site needs a named contact who can let us in.
