Sidings at Needmore and south-east Dayton
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Needmore rail yard 3 miles east of Shiloh and a Dayton yard 4.7 miles to the south-east. A tractor that shuttles boxes or bulk loads between those two sidings may well be parked near one of them when you call, and we collect from that spot.
Give us the street address of the lot and the name of whoever controls the gate. If the yard asks for a visitor sign-in, tell us at the start so the driver who comes for the truck has it arranged before arriving.
Have the title in the name on the registration, and photograph the cab, the frame rails and the fifth wheel in daylight so the pictures show the whole tractor.
Two terminals off the east side of town
On the Energy Information Administration’s list, one Dayton petroleum product terminal is 4 miles east of Shiloh and a second is 4.1 miles to the south-east. Tankers and the tractors that pull them load at racks like these, and we buy both the tractor and a tank trailer that goes with it.
For a fuel hauler, pull together the tank’s test and inspection paperwork alongside the truck’s own service history. Those sheets tell us what the trailer carried, and a seller who sends them along with photos of the valves and the barrel rarely gets a second round of questions.
Quarry runs to Huber Heights, Vandalia and Phillipsburg
Records from the Mine Safety and Health Administration show a crushed-stone quarry at Huber Heights 6.3 miles north-east, the Phillips Vandalia Plant sand and gravel operation 7.6 miles north-west, and a Phillipsburg stone quarry 9.7 miles north-west. Dump trucks, end dumps and the tractors behind them all fit those short aggregate hauls.
On a dump body, list the hoist make, the bed length and whether a tarp system is fitted. Write those down with the VIN, and if the truck sits at a quarry gate rather than in your driveway, say which of the three sites it is at.
Delivery routes toward Wright-Patterson
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a military installation, lies 9.6 miles east of Shiloh. Box trucks and straight trucks that run deliveries toward the base fall inside the range of what we purchase.
Any truck that went onto the installation should be collected off it. Move it to a yard or street spot outside the gate first, then send us that address with the registration so pickup needs no base access.
Shiloh plant jobs and Montgomery County farmland
According to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, Shiloh had 2,419 jobs, and 234 of them, 9.7 percent, were in manufacturing. Box vans, flatbeds and straight trucks that move parts between plants count among what we buy from owners in town.
Montgomery County’s 789 farms, tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, lead with corn, soybeans and cattle. Grain trucks, hoppers and livestock haulers from those farms qualify too, and we come out to the farm lane or machine shed where the truck is kept.
For a farm truck, the paperwork is the same as for a fleet tractor: the title, the registration and a few clear photos taken outside.
The questions we get asked in Shiloh
- Our tractor sits inside the Needmore rail yard east of Shiloh - can it be collected from there?Needmore is 3 miles east of Shiloh on the North American Rail Network, and we pick the tractor up right there. Send us the yard address and a contact who can let our driver through.
- Will you take a dump truck hauling crushed stone out of Huber Heights? The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists that crushed-stone quarry 6.3 miles north-east of town, and dump trucks working it are trucks we purchase. Send the VIN, the hoist and bed details and photos.
- Would you buy the corn and soybean truck from our Montgomery County farm? With 789 farms in Montgomery County growing corn and soybeans and raising cattle, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, grain and livestock trucks are on our list. Have the title and registration ready and tell us where on the farm it is parked.
- Which papers and photos does a Shiloh seller need to gather first? For a Shiloh truck, that means the title, current registration, the VIN and daylight photos of the cab, frame and any body or trailer, plus the address where it is parked, whether that is near the Dayton fuel terminals, a quarry or your own lot.
