Aggregate and coal haul
Uniontown Stone, Egypt Valley and the coal ground
The Mine Safety and Health Administration records two crushed-stone quarries close by: Uniontown Stone, 6.5 miles north-west, and Egypt Valley Stone, 11.7 miles west. A dump truck or tri-axle that hauls aggregate from either one can be collected at the quarry gate, the yard or your driveway. Give us the street address or the site name and tell us whether a lowboy can reach the spot.
East toward the Ohio River, the CCU Bellaire Dock coal preparation plant lies 9.4 miles out, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Going the other way, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places CCU Belmont Strip at 16.4 miles and Vail Mine at 22.7 miles, both west. If your tractor or end-dump has run coal between these sites, mention which ones in your first message, and send photos of the body, the hoist and the cab together.
Mingo and Gould, north-east of town
Two yards on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, sit just past 21 miles north-east: MINGO (NS) at 21.4 miles and GOULD at 21.6. A day cab that shuttles loads to either yard is a truck we will look at, and it does not need to come back to St. Clairsville for us to collect it.
For a tractor that spends its shifts near Mingo or Gould, write down the yard address where it is kept between loads. Add the VIN, a photo of the odometer and the name on the title, and the pickup can be arranged around where the truck already sits.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 67 active carriers based here, 44 of them interstate and 23 intrastate, with 45 operating as private fleets that move their own goods. Owner-operators and private fleets alike can sell a single unit to us; send the registration and the title, and tell us whether the truck carries a USDOT number you plan to keep active.
General freight is listed by 34 of those carriers, machinery and large objects by 23, logs, poles, beams and lumber by 14, and dry bulk commodities by 9, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Flatbeds, step-decks, log trailers and pneumatic bulk units all fit what we buy, so list the trailer with the tractor if you want both gone at once.
Five new carriers registered in 2025 and five in 2024, the same federal census records. If you started hauling recently and are changing equipment, the paperwork we ask for is short: title, current registration and any service records you kept.
Units, drivers, plates
Fleet size, driver range and model years
The three biggest fleets in town run 22, 16 and 13 power units, with 35, 6 and 36 drivers respectively, on FMCSA’s carrier census. A fleet manager clearing several tractors at once can send one list of VINs and yard locations, and we will work through them unit by unit.
Drivers here split 155 working within 100 miles and 93 going beyond it, and among the 35 carriers reporting it, the median truck covered 10,000 miles, both figures from FMCSA’s carrier census. A short-haul truck parked at a quarry and a long-haul sleeper parked out of state are collected the same way; just tell us where it is.
FMCSA roadside inspection records covering 56 local trucks, checked from August 29, 2024 to August 26, 2026, show 2021 as the median model year, with 19.64 percent at ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, have the title in hand and photograph the data plate on the door so the model year is clear.
Paychecks, contractors, cattle
Mining jobs, contractors and dairy farms
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 103 of the town’s 3,126 jobs in mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction and 71 in construction. A contractor’s dump truck or a service body used on site work is something we buy, and a truck that sits on a job site can be picked up there.
If your company owns the truck, have the person named on the title sign, or send a letter giving someone else authority to sign for the business.
Belmont County holds 756 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, milk and horses as the top products. Livestock haulers, milk tankers and farm grain trucks can all be collected from the farm itself; send a photo of the trailer or tank along with the tractor.
