A tri-axle or tandem dump that hauls aggregate out of that quarry is usually parked close to the pit or at the owner’s yard in town, and either spot suits us for collection; send the street address and a note on whether a lowboy can reach it.
Twenty-one miles to the south-east, Hardin Sand and Gravel appears in the same Mine Safety and Health Administration listing as a sand and gravel operation. If your dump or belly trailer has split its weeks between Weber and Hardin, have the title in hand along with photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, so we can match what we see to the truck you describe.
A manufacturing town’s trucks
In St. Marys, manufacturing holds 1,679, or 32.7 percent, of the 5,142 jobs that the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in town for 2023. Box trucks and day cabs that shuttle parts and finished goods between plant docks fit what we purchase; keep the registration and any service records together so the paperwork comes with the truck.
Transportation and warehousing account for 81 jobs here and wholesale trade for 59, by the same LEHD figures. Whether your straight truck delivers for a wholesaler or runs freight out of a warehouse lot, tell us the lot where it is kept and we will plan the pickup around that address.
In the same FMCSA census, twelve list motor vehicles and 10 list machinery and large objects, so car haulers, rollbacks and heavy-haul tractors with step-deck or lowboy trailers are all trucks we will look at; a VIN and a set of clear photos are the first things to send.
Split by operation, that FMCSA census shows 22 interstate carriers, 24 intrastate and 25 private fleets in town. The three biggest FMCSA-registered fleets in town run 14, 11 and 11 power units, and if you are selling several units out of one yard, list each VIN and keep each title with its truck so every unit can be checked on its own.
Tell us what work yours did and give us its odometer reading.
Grain, feed and hog country
Eleven St. Marys carriers in FMCSA’s census haul grain, feed or hay, which puts hopper-bottom trailers, grain trucks and livestock rigs among the trucks we see from this area.
A farm truck in Auglaize County is often kept in a barn or machine shed down a gravel lane rather than in town. Give us the farm address, say whether a lowboy can turn in at the lane, and have the title signed by whoever’s name is on it.
Fuel terminals, rail and the Lima plant
AIP Logistics, a liquid bulk terminal, sits 10.8 miles east of town on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals, LIMA and LIMA SOUTH, 17.5 miles to the north-east, and tank-wagon trucks and tractors that pull tankers between them are ones we buy; keep any terminal inspection paperwork with the title.
Northeast toward Lima, the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the SOUTH LIMA and WEST LIMA rail yards 18.9 miles out. The Joint Systems Manufacturing Center - Lima, a military installation, is 17.1 miles away on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records. A tractor that works that corridor may be parked in Lima when you call, and that is fine: we collect from where it is.
Inspected model years and the town’s eight bridges
Thirty-three trucks run by carriers based in town went through FMCSA roadside inspections between October 2024 and July 2026, and their median model year is 2020. A third of them were ten or more model years old in those same inspection records, and we buy newer and older tractors alike.
Federal Highway Administration bridge records put eight bridges inside St. Marys, none of them load-posted and none with clearance under fourteen feet. A loaded lowboy or a tall tractor can usually come out on the town’s own streets; tell us only about a gate or lane of your own that has a limit.
The questions we get asked in St. Marys
- Do you buy dump trucks from the quarry near St. Marys?Weber Materials, Ltd, a crushed-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 3 miles north, is one of the sites we expect trucks from. Send the VIN, photos and the address where the dump is parked.
- Is a 2020 tractor too new, or a 2012 one too old?FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year of St. Marys carrier trucks at 2020, with a third ten or more years old. We look at trucks across that whole range.
