Dry vans, coil racks and car haulers off Streetsboro lots
General freight is the cargo line on 68 of the 91 Streetsboro carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census shows as active. If your tractor pulled dry vans for one of those outfits, have the title and current registration together before you call, and we can talk through the rest with the truck still in your yard.
Seventeen Streetsboro carriers haul motor vehicles, 15 carry metal sheets, coils and rolls, and 14 move machinery and large objects, according to the same FMCSA carrier census. Car haulers, flatbeds with coil racks and lowboys all fit what we purchase; send photos of the deck, the rack or the ramps as well as the cab so we see the whole rig.
Of those carriers, 51 run interstate and 39 stay inside Ohio, while 27 are private fleets hauling their own goods, per FMCSA. A private-fleet truck often carries the owning company’s name on the title, so check who the registered owner is and bring the person who can sign for it into the conversation early.
Tractor model years and miles on the Portage County road
Roadside inspection records kept by FMCSA cover 166 trucks inspected between September 2024 and August 2026 from Streetsboro carriers, with a median model year of 2020 and 17.5 percent ten or more years old. Whatever year yours is, the VIN and the odometer reading are the two details to send first.
Thirty-seven carriers here reported mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, and the median among them is 37,500 miles per truck a year. Keep the service log with the truck; a record of oil changes and inspections tells us its history alongside the photos.
The census also lists 378 drivers who work beyond a 100-mile radius and 116 who stay within it. A Streetsboro truck that runs long routes may be parked out of state when you decide to sell, and we can collect it wherever it is if you give us the address and someone to meet us.
Fleet sizes among Streetsboro carriers
One Streetsboro carrier runs 134 power units with 117 drivers, another runs 35 units with 59 drivers, and a third runs 27 units with 37 drivers, all on FMCSA’s carrier census. If you manage a fleet and are retiring several tractors at once, list each VIN and where each unit sits so collection can be planned in one pass.
New authorities keep appearing: FMCSA recorded seven carriers starting up in Streetsboro in 2024 and four in 2025. An owner-operator who started recently and is now leaving the business can sell the truck to us; bring the title, or the lender’s name if a loan is still open on it.
Sand pits east of town, fuel racks at Aurora and Tallmadge
Ballentine Sand and Gravel sits 3.2 miles east of town and Beck Sand & Gravel 3.3 miles to the south-east, both on file with the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A dump truck or tri-axle that has worked those pits can stay on site for pickup; tell us whose ground it is on so access is cleared with them.
The Energy Information Administration lists the Aurora petroleum product terminal 5.2 miles north and the Tallmadge terminal 12 miles south. If your tanker hauled from either rack, keep the tank inspection and test certificates with the truck, since they show what the tank was rated to carry.
Farther out, Best Sand at Chardon, an industrial-mineral mine 22.5 miles north-east, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records. A truck parked at a mine gate that far from Streetsboro is still one we can reach, given the address and a contact who can let us in.
Rail yards and Camp Ravenna
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Motor rail yard 11.6 miles north-west and the Hill yard 12.6 miles south-west of Streetsboro. If your tractor shuttled loads to either yard, tell us the cab type and the axle setup when you get in touch.
Out past Ravenna, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics marks NG Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center at 13.9 miles east of Streetsboro. If a truck you own has hauled to the training center and is parked near it, give us the location and whether a pass is needed to reach it.
Factory, construction and farm trucks in Portage County
Factory work held 3,377 of Streetsboro’s 9,309 jobs in 2023, a 36.3 percent share, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Trucking and warehouse payrolls covered 474 of those LEHD jobs, with wholesale trade at 312. Box trucks and tractors serving those plants and distribution sites are trucks we purchase; have the registration and any annual inspection paperwork ready.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 25 construction establishments and 4 warehousing establishments in Streetsboro, and LEHD puts construction at 269 jobs. A contractor selling a dump truck or a flatbed should gather the title and photos of the body and any attached equipment.
Across Portage County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lists 927 farms, with corn, soybeans and cattle at the top. Grain trucks and livestock haulers from those farms qualify too; have the title in the name of whoever will sign the sale.
The questions we get asked in Streetsboro
- Can you collect my tri-axle from the Ballentine or Beck pit, or must I haul it into Streetsboro first?Ballentine Sand and Gravel is 3.2 miles east and Beck Sand & Gravel 3.3 miles south-east of town on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we come to the truck at either one. Tell us who controls the site so access is arranged.
- Are there low or weight-posted bridges I should warn you about?Streetsboro has 13 bridges on the National Bridge Inventory, and a tractor heading out from a lot near the Aurora terminal or the sand pits meets no posted weight limit or sub-14-foot span among them. Still tell us about any tight gate or soft ground where the truck is parked.
- Does a truck from a Streetsboro private fleet sell any differently?FMCSA’s carrier census counts 27 private fleets among Streetsboro’s 91 active carriers, and their trucks are often titled to the company itself. Have the person authorised to sign for the company on hand when you contact us.
