Coil, paper and dry-van outfits in Strongsville
Of the 198 active Strongsville carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, general freight shows up on the cargo list of 157. If your tractor has spent its working life on mixed dry loads, it belongs to the biggest group in town, so start with the VIN, the title and a photo of the cab and the plate.
Coil and sheet metal is the second line on that list: 39 Strongsville carriers registered with FMCSA haul metal sheets, coils and rolls, while 36 carry paper products and 28 move motor vehicles. A flatbed tractor that has pulled coil, or a car hauler set up for vehicles, should come to us with its trailer details noted, since we ask which equipment goes with the sale.
Of those registered outfits, 119 run interstate and 78 stay inside Ohio, and the federal carrier census counts 41 private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck owned by a manufacturer or wholesaler rather than a for-hire carrier sells the same way; have the person named on the title ready to sign.
Between August 2024 and August 2026, 353 trucks from Strongsville carriers were stopped for roadside inspection, and FMCSA’s records put their median model year at 2020. In those FMCSA records, just over 17 percent were ten or more model years old; late-model and older tractors alike are trucks we purchase.
Among 82 local carriers reporting their mileage to FMCSA, the median truck logged 48,048 miles a year. Write down the odometer reading before you call; with the VIN it answers most of what we need to know at the start.
The carrier census shows 237 drivers here working within 100 miles of base and 537 going further. A long-haul truck may be parked away from Strongsville when you sell it, and that is fine: give us the address where it sits and the name of whoever holds the keys.
Rail yards at Parma and Rockport, fuel at Lorain and Brecksville
According to the North American Rail Network, the Parma yard lies 7.5 miles north-east of Strongsville and the Rockport yard 7.6 miles north. If your day cab shuttles boxes or loads to those yards, we can collect it from your lot near the tracks; just tell us the gate hours.
The Energy Information Administration places a petroleum product terminal at Lorain, 9.8 miles west, and another at Brecksville, 10.9 miles east. Tank tractors that load at either one should come with their hazmat paperwork and any tank inspection reports in the cab file when we arrive.
Closer to the lake, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal 13.9 miles north-east and the Cleveland Terminal at 14.3 miles. A tractor parked at a terminal lot along that stretch can stay there; send the location and a contact who can let us in.
Whiskey Island and the deicing mine
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Cargill Deicing Solutions-Cleveland, an industrial-mineral mine, 13.8 miles north-east, and Dock #1 at Whiskey Island, a mineral processing plant, at 14.1 miles. Dump trucks and bulk tractors that run road salt out of those sites in winter are trucks we purchase.
If yours hauls salt or aggregate, send photos of the body, the hoist and the frame along with the cab. A seasonal truck that sits idle in summer can be picked up from wherever it is stored.
Strongsville plants, distributors and contractors
Manufacturing accounts for 3,166 of Strongsville’s 22,001 jobs in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, and wholesale trade for another 1,221. Box trucks and straight trucks that serve those plants and distributors are part of what we purchase, from single units to a few at once.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 95 construction establishments and 6 warehousing ones in the area, while LEHD counts 681 construction jobs. A contractor selling a dump truck or a stake bed between projects should have the registration and any service records together before we talk.
Strongsville also has 40 bridges in the National Bridge Inventory, 2 of them load-posted and 2 with less than 14 feet of clearance. The National Bridge Inventory gives Whitney Road over the East Branch Rocky River the lowest clearance, 8 feet 11 inches. If the truck is parked beyond it, tell us the route out and we will plan the collection around it.

- Do farm trucks from Cuyahoga County qualify?A farm truck from the county is welcome. USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 104 farms in the county, with tomatoes, cut flowers and horses at the top, and a farm-plated truck sells once its title is in the seller’s name.
