Urbana Materials and Neer’s Sand & Gravel
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Urbana Materials, a sand and gravel operation, about 1 mile west of the town centre. A dump truck or tri-axle that loads there can be collected from the pit lot or from your own yard in Urbana, whichever is easier for you to give us access to.
Farther out, Neer’s Sand & Gravel LLC sits 14.7 miles north-west of Urbana in the same Mine Safety and Health Administration listing. When a gravel truck from either site is up for sale, photograph the bed, the hoist and the cab, note the VIN, and keep the Ohio title in your name ready to sign over.
If your truck is behind a gate at one of these pits, tell us who holds the key and when the gate is open so the collection can be planned around the site’s hours.
Corn, soybeans, hogs
Grain and farm supply hauling in Champaign County
Grain hoppers, feed trucks and livestock rigs that serve those farms are often kept in a barn or machine shed rather than a truck yard, and we can collect from a farm lane as readily as from a paved lot.
Of the Urbana carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, 21 list grain, feed and hay as cargo, 19 list farm supplies and 16 list dry bulk commodities. If your truck hauled any of these, tell us what it carried and send pictures of the body or trailer hookup; a hopper, a feed body and a flatbed each get their own questions.
A truck that was registered as a farm vehicle still needs an Ohio certificate of title in the seller’s name. If that title has gone missing, ask Ohio’s title agency for a duplicate before you call, so the signing is ready when we are.
Manufacturing jobs and general freight
Transportation and warehousing holds 198 of those jobs on the same LEHD figures, and construction 131.
Thirty-five of the town’s carriers name general freight as a cargo type in FMCSA’s carrier census. A tractor or straight truck that ran plant freight out of Urbana is something we buy; send its registration, any service records you kept, and photos of all four sides along with the dash.
Construction firms are part of the local picture as well, with 32 construction establishments counted for the area in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from that work are on our list too.
If your truck shuttled loads to that yard and is parked down there, we meet it where it stands; it never has to come back into Urbana first.
HONDA INTERMODAL B lies 17.4 miles north-east, in that same North American Rail Network listing. A day cab that pulled containers to or from that ramp should come with its VIN, the odometer reading and its current registration, so the first conversation is about the truck itself.
Springfield Beckley, a military installation, is 18.5 miles south according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck is stored on property near there and you live elsewhere now, give us the address and someone who can let us in; you can handle the paperwork from wherever you are.
Urbana’s carriers and their fleets
Six new carriers registered in 2025 and one in 2024 under the same census.
Selling several trucks at once from a fleet that size works the same way as selling one; list each VIN, where each truck is parked and whose name is on each title.
Drivers at those carriers split between short and long runs, with 162 working within 100 miles and 233 going beyond it according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Across 25 reporting carriers, the census puts the median at 19,924 miles a truck a year.
What the inspection and bridge records show
Whatever the model year of yours, the steps are the same: title, registration, photos and the VIN.
When you describe where the truck is parked, mention any posted bridge on the way in, so the tow or the driver who collects it picks the right route.
