Boxes on the ramp
Container ramp to the north-east, Motor yard to the east
Just across the town line, Maple Heights Intermodal handles container trains 2.9 miles to the north-east, per the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A day cab that shuttles boxes off that ramp is usually parked within a few minutes of it between moves, so give us the lot address and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
Further out, the North American Rail Network shows the Motor rail yard lying 5.3 miles due east. If your tractor splits its shifts between the two yards, tell us which one it is parked at between jobs; that is where we plan to load it, and it saves you driving it anywhere.
North-west to the lake
Fuel racks and liquid bulk north-west of town
Heading north-west from Valley View, the Cuyahoga rack comes up after 4.3 miles and the Cleveland rack after 6.7, both logged as petroleum product terminals by the Energy Information Administration. Tankers and fuel tractors that load at those racks are welcome here; send the VIN, a photo of the tank’s data plate and any recent tank test certificates with the cab photos.
Past those racks, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics names two liquid bulk terminals, Transflo CSXT at 7.5 miles and Cleveland Terminal at 8.1 miles. FMCSA’s carrier census shows two Valley View carriers registered to haul chemicals, and if your rig is one of them, have its hazmat placard history and the trailer’s registration ready alongside the title.
Whiskey Island
Salt and mineral docks on the lakefront
At 9.6 miles north-west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists both the Dock #1 Whiskey Island mineral processing plant and the Cargill Deicing Solutions Cleveland mine. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that run road salt off the island qualify for a sale to us as readily as any highway tractor.
When a salt truck is still parked at a dock lot on the island, we arrange the pickup there instead of asking you to bring it to Valley View. Let us know who controls access to that lot and send photos of the body, the hoist and the cab so the listing matches the unit.
Valley View carriers
Freight vans, low-boys and tow rigs on Valley View lots
Valley View has 19 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census; twelve of them list general freight, three haul machinery and large objects, and two run driveaway or towaway work. Low-boys and step-decks from the machinery side and flat tow units are as much a fit for us as dry-van tractors.
Split by operation, that federal census shows 10 interstate carriers, 9 intrastate and 11 private fleets that move their own goods. A private-fleet straight truck carries the same documents as a for-hire unit when it sells: the Ohio title, current registration and any service log you kept.
The biggest operation in town runs 51 power units with 39 drivers per FMCSA, and the next two run 16 and 8 units. Selling several trucks from a fleet that size works fine; send us a list of VINs and where each one is parked, and we can schedule them together.
Short-haul drivers and yearly miles
Carriers here report 154 drivers working within a 100-mile radius and 72 beyond it, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Most local tractors therefore come home to Valley View at night, which is the easiest place for us to collect them.
A Valley View truck at the midpoint covered 25,245 miles a year, going by the eight local carriers whose mileage FMCSA’s carrier census holds. Put the current odometer reading in your first message along with the VIN; it is a figure we record, not a problem we look for.
Wholesale leads
Warehouse and plant fleets around Valley View
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 10,894 jobs in Valley View in 2023, with wholesale trade at 1,592 of them, or 14.6 percent, and manufacturing close behind at 1,439. Box trucks and tractors from warehouse and plant fleets are the kind of equipment we pick up locally.
Construction accounted for 652 local positions and transportation and warehousing for 429 in that same 2023 LEHD release. Dump trucks, flatbeds and roll-offs from job sites can be collected from the yard or the site where they stand.
Across the wider county, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 104 farms, led by tomatoes, cut flowers and equine operations. Horse haulers and nursery delivery trucks from those farms can be sold to us too, with the title in the owner’s name.
Rockside Road, Bedford
A missing certificate gets replaced in Bedford
Ohio titles are issued through the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles by county clerk of courts title offices, and the closest is the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts Title Office at 22121 Rockside Road, Bedford, 4.8 miles from Valley View. If the certificate has gone missing, a duplicate is requested there before the truck changes hands.
For the route out of town, the National Bridge Inventory counts 13 bridges in Valley View, one of them load-posted and none with a clearance below fourteen feet. Tell us where the truck is parked and we will plan the trailer’s path around that single posted bridge.
