Pits on the west edge of Xenia, stone out toward Cedarville
The Mine Safety and Health Administration places Phillips Companies Xenia, a sand and gravel operation, 2.4 miles west of town, and Xenia Sand & Gravel 2.7 miles to the north-west. A dump truck or tractor that loads at either pit may well be parked within sight of the conveyors when you call, and we can collect it from the yard itself if you give us the gate contact.
Further out, Fairborn Cement Plant sits 6.7 miles north and Cedarville Limestone, a crushed-stone quarry, 9.2 miles east, both on the MSHA list of mines. Bulk tanker and end-dump owners hauling between those two sites should send the VIN, a clear photo of each side, and the plant or quarry where the truck is kept.
Freight, car hauling, grain and lumber out of Xenia
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 114 active motor carriers here, and 68 of them list general freight among what they haul. Box trucks, day cabs and sleepers on dry-van work make up that group, so tell us the body type and trailer setup when you get in touch.
Car haulers are a real share of this town’s fleet: 18 carriers report motor vehicles as cargo in the federal census, while 15 carry grain, feed or hay and 13 move logs, poles, beams or lumber. For a car-hauler rig, a log truck or a grain hopper, include the trailer’s VIN and registration alongside the tractor’s.
Out of those operators, the federal census counts 55 operating interstate, 58 intrastate and 34 private fleets hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck often carries the company’s name on the registration rather than a driver’s, so have whoever signs for the business ready with the title.
Xenia tractors stopped by inspectors, and how far they roam
Inspectors stopped 186 Xenia-based trucks from September 2024 to August 2026, and those FMCSA roadside inspection records put the middle model year at 2018.5, with 39.8 percent of the stopped trucks a decade old or older by model year. Whatever the year on your title, send the VIN first, since it settles make, model and engine in one line.
Mileage figures reported to the carrier census put the median at 16,333 miles a truck per year, taken from 35 carriers. On FMCSA’s census, 236 drivers stay within 100 miles of base and 353 go beyond it, so a Xenia truck may be at home in the county or parked out of state when you decide to sell; tell us exactly where it sits.
Yard size
One-truck owners beside large yards
The biggest operation filed in the FMCSA register here runs 193 power units with 145 drivers; the next two list 55 units with 74 drivers and 45 units with 45 drivers. If you are clearing several tractors from a yard at once, send a list with each VIN and location, and we will plan one collection for the batch.
Newer outfits keep arriving too, with 12 carriers registering with FMCSA in 2025 and 9 in 2024. An operator who started recently and is now selling a single tractor needs the same three things as a large fleet: the title, current registration and any service records kept for the truck.
Plant docks, contractors’ yards and Greene County fields
Manufacturing accounts for 594 of the 8,249 jobs located in Xenia in 2023, per the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with 325 in transportation and warehousing, 284 in construction and 154 in wholesale trade. Straight trucks and tractors serving plant loading docks are a fit for us, whether the title is in a personal or a business name.
Builders are part of the picture as well: 53 construction establishments appear for Xenia in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Contractors with a dump body, a flatbed or a stake truck sitting between jobs can send photos from the job site; we pick up where the truck is parked.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 897 farms in Greene County, where corn, soybeans and hogs lead the list, and LEHD shows 102 local jobs in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting. A grain truck or livestock hauler kept in a barn lot off a county road can be collected there; just tell us the road and which building it is in.
Bridges, the air base and the Dayton rail yard
Xenia’s 23 bridges in the National Bridge Inventory include a single load-posted span and no clearance below 14 feet. Mention if your truck is parked past that posted bridge, so the route we send for it avoids the weight limit.
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base lies 11 miles north-west and Springfield Beckley 12.8 miles north-east, both listed as military installations by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Trucks kept on or beside a base need a gate pass arranged in advance, so give us a name who can sign the driver in.
West of town, the North American Rail Network places the Dayton rail yard 13.4 miles out, and the Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal at Dayton 13.6 miles north-west. A fuel tanker or intermodal day cab stationed at either site can be sold without bringing it home to Xenia first.
The questions we get asked in Xenia
- Our dump truck stays at the Phillips pit outside Xenia between loads; will you fetch it from the pit itself?Phillips Companies Xenia sits 2.4 miles west of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and collecting from a pit yard like that is routine for us. Give us the site contact and the spot where the truck is kept.
- We keep a corn and soybean hauler on our Greene County place; is that a truck you would take?Greene County has 897 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, growing mostly corn and soybeans and raising hogs, and grain trucks from those operations are trucks we purchase. Send the VIN, title and a few photos taken where it stands.
- Which papers should a Xenia owner gather for the sale?Of the 114 active carriers in FMCSA’s census for Xenia, many are small operators, and every one of them needs the same short list: the title in the seller’s name, current registration, the keys and any service records you have.
- Our day cab sits near the Dayton rail yard; does it have to come back to Xenia first?Dayton’s rail yard is 13.4 miles west of Xenia on the North American Rail Network, and the truck can stay there. Name the person who holds the yard keys and we will set the collection with them directly.
