General freight, coils and oilfield loads
General freight appears on the cargo lists of 180 of the 350 active Alvin carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census. If your tractor has spent its life on dry-van or flatbed general loads around Brazoria County, have the title in your name and the registration current before you call, and we can start from the VIN.
Machinery and large objects are listed by 64 Alvin carriers, oilfield equipment by 43 and metal sheets, coils and rolls by 38, according to the same FMCSA census. Heavy-haul tractors, lowboy setups and flatbeds that carried coils all fit what we purchase; tell us the axle layout and the trailer, if one is part of the sale, so the pickup crew brings the right equipment.
Of those carriers, 280 operate intrastate only, 66 run interstate and 109 are private fleets hauling their own goods, per FMCSA records. A truck that never left Texas still needs nothing more than a clear Texas title and your ID; a private-fleet unit owned by a business needs the signature of whoever is authorised to sell company equipment.
Short hauls and long runs from Alvin
Drivers at Alvin carriers split between 364 who stay within 100 miles and 448 who work beyond that radius, the FMCSA carrier census reports. If your truck is out on a long run when you decide to sell, tell us where it will be parked next and we will collect it there rather than at your yard.
Mileage filings with FMCSA from 78 Alvin carriers put the typical Alvin truck at 29,333 miles a year, the median of those reports. Have the current odometer reading ready with the VIN; it is one of the first two things we ask for, alongside clear photos of the cab, frame and tires.
In 2024, 22 carriers registered with an Alvin address, and in 2025 another 25 did, by FMCSA’s census. If you started an authority recently and are selling the one truck it ran on, the paperwork is the same as for a long-standing fleet - title, registration and a contact who can meet the crew.
Roadside inspections and the 2012.5 median
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA, covering 320 trucks inspected between September 2024 and August 2026, put the median model year of Alvin-based units at 2012.5. Whatever year your tractor is, send the year, make and model in your first message so we know which cab and engine we are looking at.
In the same FMCSA inspection records, 62.8 percent of the inspected Alvin trucks were ten or more model years old. Service records and inspection reports for a tractor of any year help us see its history, so gather what you have in one folder before the pickup.
Terminals north
Pearland, Manchester and the Bayport docks
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Pearland rail intermodal ramp 15.3 miles north of Alvin, and the Bayport Container Terminal ramp 18.2 miles to the north-east. Day cabs that shuttle boxes between those ramps can be collected at the drop yard where they sit; give us the gate contact and the hours the yard is open.
Manchester Terminal, a petroleum product terminal 14.6 miles north, and the Seabrook terminal 17.1 miles north-east both appear in Energy Information Administration listings. If your tractor pulled tankers to either, keep any site safety paperwork with the title so it travels with the truck.
Two liquid bulk terminals, Quality Transload Inc at 16.4 miles and Alpha Technical Services at 16.9 miles, are listed north-east of town by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, as is the Bayport Auto Terminal, a roll-on/roll-off dock, at 18.2 miles. A truck parked at any of these sites does not need to come back to Alvin first; send us the address.
