North-west mine haul
Dump trucks from the Denton Pits and the sand farms
The Mine Safety and Health Administration records the Denton Pits, an industrial-mineral mine, 6.6 miles north-west of Copper Canyon. A tandem dump or end-dump tractor that has hauled from that site is a truck we collect, and it can stay in the yard or on the property where it now sits.
North-east of town, Denton Sand Farm lies 13 miles out and B & B Sand & Gravel 15.2 miles out, both listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration as sand and gravel operations. If your truck is parked at one of those gates, tell us who manages the lot and send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab so the listing matches the truck.
Have the VIN, the title and any inspection sheets from those mine sites in one folder before you contact us; with those three in hand, most of the questions we ask are already answered.
Tank tractors on the run up from Southlake
Two petroleum product terminals appear south of Copper Canyon in Energy Information Administration listings: SOUTHLAKE at 10.2 miles and SOUTHLAKE TX at 12.4 miles. Tractors that pull tank trailers out of those racks are on the list of what we buy, whether day cab or sleeper.
If the tractor still carries its terminal loading credentials or hazmat placard records, keep copies with the registration. Tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale or stays behind, and where each one is parked, so the pickup is planned around the right equipment.
From Copper Canyon to Carrollton and Alliance
According to the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, two rail yards named Carrollton lie south-east of Copper Canyon at 14.7 and 14.9 miles. Day cabs that shuttle boxcar and transload freight from yards like these suit a local sale, and the truck can be collected right where it is staged.
Westward, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Alliance, TX intermodal ramp 15.9 miles from town. A container tractor that works that ramp should come with its VIN, current registration and a few clear photos of the frame and fifth wheel; send those first and we follow up with the rest.
Clear approaches
Five spans and open clearance around town
Five bridges are recorded near Copper Canyon in the National Bridge Inventory kept by the Federal Highway Administration, and none of the five carries a posted load limit or sits under fourteen feet of clearance.
For a seller, that means a tall dump body or a loaded lowboy can be reached on the roads into town without a detour around a low or weight-posted span. Give us the gate code or a contact who can open the property, and the collection is arranged around your schedule rather than ours.
Horse and grain country
Horse barns, wheat and sorghum fields
Equine operations top the county’s list, followed by wheat and sorghum, among the 2,936 Denton County farms counted in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Grain trucks, stock haulers and the tractors that pull horse trailers between barns all qualify for a sale to us.
A farm truck on a ranch plate still needs its title in the owner’s name; if the registration lapsed while the truck sat in a barn, mention it and send what papers you have.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles handles certified copies of a title through county tax assessor-collector offices; for Copper Canyon owners that is the Denton County Tax Office at 1505 E. McKinney in Denton. That office sits 8.3 miles from Copper Canyon on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles county office listing.
Bring your driver’s license and the VIN to that office, and ask for the certified copy in the name shown on the registration. If a lender is still listed on the title, have the lien release letter with you as well, since the copy is issued to match the record.
The questions we get asked in Copper Canyon
- Will a tall trailer have trouble getting to my property?Copper Canyon’s five recorded bridges in the National Bridge Inventory carry no load posting and none falls under fourteen feet, so the approach roads leave room for tall equipment.
