If your tractor pulled dry vans or flatbeds for one of those outfits, send us the VIN, the cab type and a photo of the door sticker, and we can talk about it from there.
Of those 157 Dickinson carriers, 29 haul machinery and large objects and 26 carry metal sheets, coils and rolls, according to the same FMCSA census. Lowboys, step-decks and coil-rack trailers from that kind of work are trucks we buy; tell us what the trailer carried and include a picture of the deck.
Oilfield and private fleets
Oilfield loads and company-owned trucks
Twenty-two Dickinson carriers list oilfield equipment as cargo in FMCSA’s census, and the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place 67 of the city’s 4,653 jobs in 2023 in mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction. A winch truck or a gin-pole rig from that line of work can be sold with its body still on; photograph the bed, the winch and the plate on the side of the cab.
Private fleets make up 51 of Dickinson’s carriers, which haul their own goods rather than freight for hire, per FMCSA. When a company truck is the one being sold, have the title in the business’s name and a signer from the company ready; the driver alone cannot sign for it.
Intrastate routes and interstate authority
In Dickinson, 115 carriers run intrastate only and 42 hold interstate authority, FMCSA’s carrier census shows. A truck that has stayed inside Texas is usually parked close to home, so give us the street address and say whether a tow truck can reach it without moving other equipment first.
The same census records 163 drivers working within 100 miles of Dickinson and 251 working beyond that radius. If your driver is out on a run when you contact us, tell us the date the truck will be back in the yard, and we plan the pickup around the day it is home.
Note the odometer reading when you write in, alongside the engine make and transmission, so the details we work from are the ones on your dash.
Terminals and docks
From Texas City to the Bayport docks
A tank truck or tractor that served those product terminals can stay where it is parked; tell us which gate it sits behind and who holds the key.
About 10.9 miles north, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Bayport Auto Terminal, the Bayport Container Terminal ramp and Quality Transload Inc, a liquid bulk terminal. Chassis and day cabs that drayed boxes off Bayport are on our list; give us the cab configuration and axle count with your photos.
Alpha Technical Services, a liquid bulk terminal 13 miles north on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, rounds out the tank-work sites near town. If a tanker has hauled from more than one of these yards, write down which ones and keep any wash-out or inspection slips with the title.
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the Texas City Terminal rail yard 10 miles south-east and Port Crossing 12.7 miles north. Trucks that shuttle transload freight between those yards and nearby plants rarely leave the county, so a pickup in Galveston County is normally the plan.
If your truck is stored inside a rail or terminal property near Port Crossing or Texas City, ask the site office about visitor access before we schedule. A name and phone number for the person at the gate saves a second trip.
Bridges, building sites and Galveston County ranches
Of 28 bridges the National Bridge Inventory records in Dickinson, 5 are load-posted and none sit under 14 feet. Tell us the route out from where the truck is parked so the tow driver can pick a road that avoids the posted spans with a heavy unit on the hook.
Construction accounts for 187 Dickinson jobs and wholesale trade for 153 in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, with manufacturing at 109. Dump trucks, box trucks and stake beds from those trades can be sold with their registration and any service records you have kept in the cab.
A livestock hauler or a farm truck parked on county land can be collected from the pasture gate. Say whether the ground beside it is firm or soft after rain.
