Stone, cement and the roads between them
A dump truck or tractor that has run aggregate out of Spicewood can be collected from the quarry lot, a contractor’s yard or your own driveway, so tell us which one and who holds the gate key.
To the south-east, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records Buda Quarry at 16.3 miles and the Texas-Lehigh Cement Plant & Quarry at 17.7 miles. If your truck has been parked at a plant site rather than at home, send the site address and a phone number for whoever lets visitors in, and we set the collection around that.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists ROX, Inc., a dimension-stone quarry 21.2 miles south-west of town. Flatbeds that carry cut stone often travel with straps, chains and tarps; say in your first message whether those stay with the truck so the paperwork lists exactly what changes hands.
For a box truck or a day cab on general freight work, have the title, the current registration and the VIN in hand before you reach out; those three answer most of what we need to ask.
Machinery and large objects appear on 26 of those carrier registrations, metal sheets, coils and rolls on 13, and logs, poles, beams and lumber on 12, according to the same federal census. Lowboys, step-decks and flatbed tractors fit that mix, and photos of the deck, the kingpin area and the cab interior let us identify the setup from a distance.
In FMCSA’s carrier census, 83 local operators work intrastate and 13 cross state lines, and 55 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A contractor who owns one or two trucks for company work counts as a private fleet, and we buy single units from owners in that position.
Whatever year your tractor or straight truck is, send the year, make and model along with the VIN so we can match it to the right specification.
If you kept inspection reports or service invoices, include them; they give a written history of the truck alongside your photos, and if you have none, describe the work it did instead.
A median of 20,000 miles per truck comes from the 17 local operators that reported annual mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census. Note the current odometer reading when you photograph the dash, so the figure on the title transfer matches the one on the gauge.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 place 5,024 jobs in Dripping Springs, 484 of them in construction, a 9.6 percent share. Dump trucks, water trucks and mixers serving building sites are often parked on the job itself, so give us the site address and the name of the superintendent if the truck sits behind a fence.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 137 construction establishments, while manufacturing accounts for 66 jobs, or 1.3 percent, in the LEHD figures. If your company is winding down a piece of equipment from a finished project, one owner signature on the title is what we need, plus a lien release if the truck was financed.
Farms, cattle and horses in Hays County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 940 farms in Hays County, with mushrooms, cattle and equine at the top of the list. A stock trailer tractor or a ranch flatbed often stays on the property between jobs, and we can collect from a pasture gate as long as you tell us how to find the entrance.
Ranch trucks are sometimes titled to a family member or to the farm itself rather than to the person selling. Check whose name is on the Texas title before you contact us; if it is missing, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and that should be in hand before collection.
Bridges, drivers and the Austin side
Local operators employ 248 drivers working inside 100 miles and 131 going farther, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. If your truck is out on a long run when you decide to sell, you can start the paperwork now and name the place it will be parked when it comes back.
East toward Austin, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Army Futures Command at 19.5 miles and NG Camp Mabry at 21.6 miles, and the Energy Information Administration records the AUSTIN PLANT petroleum product terminal 24.7 miles north-east. A fuel tanker or a truck that serviced those sites can be collected wherever it is stationed; give us the address and the gate contact.
