Fuel and liquid bulk docks a few miles up the shore
Just 2.5 miles north-east of El Lago, the SEABROOK petroleum product terminal appears in Energy Information Administration records as a fuel storage site. A tractor that has pulled fuel tankers out of that gate may still be hitched to its trailer when you reach out, so tell us whether the trailer comes with it or stays behind.
Quality Transload Inc, a liquid bulk terminal that the Bureau of Transportation Statistics puts 2.7 miles north of town, and Alpha Technical Services, another liquid bulk site it lists 5.3 miles to the north-west, round out the tank traffic close to home. If your truck hauled chemicals or other liquids between those yards, keep its hazmat placarding records and any tank test certificates in the cab folder so we can see what it carried.
Bayport chassis work
Bayport and Barbours Cut, both north of town
Bayport Container Terminal shows up in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings as a rail intermodal ramp 3.4 miles north-east, and the Port of Houston’s Bayport Auto Terminal, a roll-on/roll-off dock, sits at the same distance in the same direction. Day cabs that drag chassis off that ramp are among the tractors we purchase; photograph the fifth wheel and the cab interior along with the outside so we know the setup.
Further up the channel, the federal transportation bureau records Port of Houston - Barbours Cut as a roll-on/roll-off terminal 7.6 miles north. A drayage rig that splits its week between Barbours Cut and Bayport can be collected at either yard or at your home in El Lago; just give us the street address and the gate rules for wherever it is parked.
Port Crossing and Strang on the line north
According to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the PORT CROSSING rail yard lies 4.4 miles north of El Lago and the STRANG yard 7.5 miles in the same direction. If your tractor picks up boxes trackside at those two yards, keep its yard visit logs handy, since they show us where the truck has been.
A truck on shuttle runs between those yards and the Bayport docks may be parked in a lot toward Port Crossing or in a driveway in El Lago when we come. Send a pin or a cross street and note whether a lowboy can turn around there.
Harris County Tax Office
When the El Lago title is missing, head to Preston Street
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles routes title copies through county tax assessor-collector offices, and the one serving this town is the Harris County Tax Office at 1001 Preston, Houston, 77002, about 23.1 miles from El Lago. If your title has gone missing, start the copy request there before we schedule the pickup.
With the title in hand, gather the current registration, the VIN plate photo and any service invoices you kept. If the truck was ever financed, put the lienholder’s release letter in that same envelope too.
A small town job base beside a farming county
El Lago itself counted 283 jobs in 2023 under the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES), for a town of 2,997 residents. Whatever terminal or yard your truck works from, name it when you call so we can plan the route.
Across the wider county, the USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture tallies 1,531 farms in Harris County, with cattle, equine and potted flowering plants leading the list. Livestock haulers, horse trailer rigs and nursery box trucks from those operations are all trucks we buy, and photos of the bed or body help us match the right crew to the job.
