Between two rail parks
Rail parks flanking Elmendorf to the north-west and south-east
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places Alamo Junction Rail Park Yard 1.5 miles north-west of Elmendorf and Mission Rail Park 2.3 miles south-east. A tractor that shuttles transload freight in and out of either park often sits in a transload lot rather than at a house. Give us the yard name and who controls the gate, and the pickup gets planned around that.
With two rail parks inside two and a half miles, a day cab here may never leave the county. Send photos of the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel taken where the tractor is parked, plus a shot of the VIN plate, so we know what we are coming to load.
Pits south-west toward Alpine Silica and Espey
Alpine Silica-San Antonio, an industrial-mineral mine 9.2 miles south-west, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, as do the Big Oak Plant 10.6 miles west and the Espey Pit and Plant, a sand and gravel operation 12.9 miles south-west. End dumps, belly dumps and pneumatic tankers that load at sites like these are trucks we buy.
If your truck is still parked at a pit, tell us the site and a contact who can let a driver in. Keep any site inspection sheets or service records with the title; they show where the truck has worked better than a description can.
Product racks west and north
Elmendorf tank tractors and the two San Antonio racks
West of Elmendorf, 10 miles out, the Energy Information Administration lists the San Antonio South petroleum product terminal; San Antonio North sits 12.7 miles to the north on the same agency’s list. Fourteen carriers in town haul liquids or gases according to FMCSA’s carrier census, which puts tank work on the local roster.
Selling a tractor that pulled a fuel tanker? Tell us whether the trailer goes with it or stays, and have the tank’s test paperwork on hand if the trailer is part of the sale.
One hundred and eight carriers with Elmendorf addresses
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 108 active carriers in Elmendorf, and 72 of them list general freight; dry bulk commodities and metal sheets, coils and rolls each account for 14. Most stay inside Texas, with 87 running intrastate against 21 interstate in the same FMCSA records, and 23 operate as private fleets hauling their own goods.
The same federal census shows six new carriers registered in 2025 and ten in 2024. For an owner-operator closing a one-truck authority, have the title, current registration and your USDOT number ready when you call.
Among the 34 carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median truck covered 27,004 miles a year, and the three biggest local fleets run 99, 46 and 23 power units. We take one tractor or several from the same yard.
Cattle, horses and corn around the town
Elmendorf’s surrounding Bexar County holds 2,107 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, equine and corn as the top sectors. Stock trailers, hay haulers and grain trucks that sit on a ranch between seasons are trucks we buy too.
A farm truck is usually collected right where it is parked, in a pasture or behind a barn. Tell us whether a loaded tow truck can reach it after rain, and photograph the title in the name it is registered under.
A replacement from the Pecos La Trinidad tax office
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles issues copies of lost titles through county tax assessor-collector offices, and for Elmendorf that office is the Bexar County Tax Office at 233 N Pecos La Trinidad, San Antonio, 78207, about 16 miles from town according to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.
Start the request there before we schedule the pickup. If a lender is still listed on the title, bring the lien release along so the copy comes back clear.
