The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists SERVTEX Plant 2 miles east of Garden Ridge and the Lion Cave Materials Briggs Pit 2.5 miles to the south-west, both crushed-stone quarries. A truck hauling aggregate out of either one is likely parked at the pit, at a yard nearby or in a driveway in town, so tell us which when you get in touch and we plan the collection around that spot.
Two cement plants appear on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list as well: 1604 Quarry & Plant, 5.2 miles west, and Balcones Plant, 7 miles east. Mixer and bulk cement trucks from those runs belong on the list of what we buy; send the VIN, a photo of the drum or tank and the cab, and the name of the plant the truck loaded at.
For sand and gravel, the Mine Safety and Health Administration also records Solms Operation 5.5 miles east and Smithson Valley Quarry 9 miles north-west. If your end dump or belly dump sits at one of those sites, give us the gate contact so the pickup can be arranged with whoever controls access.
Fourteen active carriers are registered here in FMCSA’s carrier census. Of those, nine operate intrastate only and five cross state lines, while seven run private fleets hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. Whichever group your truck belongs to, have the title and current registration in one place before you call.
General freight is the cargo listed by seven of those carriers in the federal motor carrier census, with liquids and gases, machinery and large objects, and U.S. Mail each named by two. Fleet sizes on file with FMCSA range from one outfit with 150 power units and 105 drivers to others with 22 units and 5 units. An owner with a single truck and a fleet manager retiring several units both sell the same way: a list of VINs, photos of each and the location where each one sits.
Carrier filings with FMCSA put 112 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 48 working beyond that radius. A truck kept on short routes is usually home each night, which makes it straightforward to photograph in daylight and to meet for collection at the yard where it parks.
Five carriers report annual mileage to FMCSA, and the median across them comes to 10,000 miles per truck. Have the current odometer reading ready along with the VIN; those two figures answer most of the first questions we ask about any truck.
Two new carriers registered in 2024 and two more in 2025, according to the FMCSA census. If you started hauling recently and are now selling the truck, have the title in your name and the registration current; if the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues the replacement.
FMCSA roadside inspection records cover 339 trucks from carriers based here, inspected between September 2024 and August 2026.
Send clear photos of the cab, both sides, the frame, the tires and the data plate, plus any service records you kept; for a newer unit the records are short, and for an older one they show the history the photos cannot.
The same LEHD counts give transportation and warehousing 163 of those jobs and manufacturing 110. Dump trucks, flatbeds and water trucks from site work fall within what we purchase, and a truck parked on a job site can be collected there once the site contact knows we are coming.
If a contractor is winding down or replacing equipment, list each truck with its VIN, photos and location, and send the title for each one together.
To the south-west, the North American Rail Network maps the Kirby rail yard 12.8 miles out and the San Antonio TOFC trailer-on-flatcar yard 13.1 miles away. Comal County has 888 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with goats, horses and sheep as the leading livestock.
