Two sand and gravel pits a couple of miles from Garfield
Garfield Sand & Gravel lies 1.4 miles south-west of town, and the Texas Materials Garfield Plant lies 2.1 miles south-east, both on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list of sand and gravel operations. A dump truck or end dump that loads at either pit is likely to be parked at a yard on this side of Austin when we collect it, so give us the yard’s address and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
If your truck hauled from those pits, write down the body type, the axle setup and the VIN before you call. Send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab from both sides, so we see the truck as it stands before anyone heads out to Garfield.
Cement and stone to the south-west
Hauling toward the Buda quarries and the Texas-Lehigh kiln
Going south-west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records the Texas-Lehigh Cement Plant & Quarry at 19.7 miles and Buda Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, at 20.2 miles. Bulk pneumatic tankers and rock haulers that ran that corridor out of Garfield are trucks we purchase, along with the tractors that pulled them.
A truck that spent its weeks between Garfield and the Buda area may still be sitting at a quarry lot rather than at home. That is fine: tell us which site it is at, whether a site pass is needed, and who can meet us there, and the collection is planned around that.
Fuel terminals both ways
Flint Hills terminals north-west toward Austin and south-east toward Bastrop
The Energy Information Administration places one Flint Hills Resources petroleum product terminal 9.3 miles north-west of Garfield, in Austin, and a second one 10.7 miles south-east, at Bastrop. Fuel tankers loading at either rack fit what we buy, whether you sell the tractor alone or with its tank trailer.
For a tanker, keep the trailer’s inspection and test records with the title. Tell us which terminal it loaded at, and send a photo of the tank’s data plate next to the cab photos so the two match up.
Gate deliveries west of Garfield, from Bergstrom to Futures Command
NG Bergstrom, listed as Abia, is a military installation 6.9 miles west of Garfield according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, which also lists Army Futures Command 14.3 miles out in the same direction. Box trucks, flatbeds and service trucks that delivered to gates on that side of town are part of what we collect.
If a truck is parked inside a fenced compound near those installations, let us know ahead of time who signs visitors in. We arrange the pickup at the truck’s location, so the seller does not have to move it closer to Garfield.
Manufacturing and construction jobs counted in Garfield
In Garfield, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 159 of the town’s 369 jobs in manufacturing, a 43.1 percent share. Plants like those use straight trucks, day cabs and yard tractors, and any of them can be sold to us with the registration and the title in the company’s name.
Construction holds 53 of those Garfield jobs, or 14.4 percent, by the same Census Bureau LEHD figures. Contractors with a dump truck, a water truck or a flatbed parked at a jobsite can send us the location and a few photos, and we plan around the site.
Cattle, corn and horse country around the town
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 870 farms across Travis County, with cattle, corn and equine at the top of its list. Around Garfield that means livestock haulers, grain trucks and horse-trailer tractors, all of which we purchase.
A farm truck often sits in a barn lot or a pasture rather than on pavement. Give us directions from the nearest road, mention any gate or cattle guard, and tell us whether the truck is registered with farm plates.
Garfield sellers with a lost title head eleven miles into Austin
Garfield sellers deal with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles through the Travis County Tax Office, a county tax assessor-collector office at 2433 Ridgepoint Drive, Austin, 78754, about 11 miles from town. If the title is lost, that office is where a certified copy is requested.
Take photo identification and the VIN to the Austin office, and if a lender is still listed, get the lien release first. Once the copy is in hand, the rest of the sale moves on the papers you already hold: the registration and any service records.
