Mine and quarry
A mine at the town line, a quarry toward Wills Point
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Grand Saline Operations, an industrial-mineral mine, 1.4 miles south of town. A truck that has worked the haul roads or loading area there is usually parked close by, so give us the exact yard or lot and the name of whoever can let us through the gate on collection day.
Some 22.3 miles west, toward Wills Point, sits the Lester Plant 1655 crushed-stone quarry, a site the Mine Safety and Health Administration also records. Dump trucks and tractors that pull end-dumps between that quarry and Van Zandt County job sites are trucks we buy; photograph the bed or trailer as well as the cab and send the VIN with the pictures.
If your truck split its time between the mine south of town and the Wills Point quarry, say which site it was last parked at. That one detail decides where the pickup is planned, and it saves you moving the truck anywhere.
Freight, farm loads and heavy machinery out of Grand Saline
General freight is on the books of 29 of Grand Saline’s 47 active carriers, by FMCSA’s carrier census. If yours is one of those general-freight tractors or box trucks, have the title and current registration in the same folder before you call; we ask to see those two first.
Farm supplies and machinery or large objects each show up on 11 carrier registrations in the FMCSA census, while grain, feed and hay appear on 7. Flatbeds, lowboys and livestock or hay rigs fall into that mix; tell us what trailer the truck pulled and whether the trailer is part of the sale.
According to FMCSA’s carrier census, 20 of the town’s carriers are private fleets moving their own goods rather than freight for hire. A business selling a truck it ran for itself should have someone with authority to sign the title on hand when we collect.
Mostly Texas roads, some interstate work
Of the 47 Grand Saline carriers, 31 run intrastate only and 16 cross state lines, per the FMCSA carrier census. A truck that stayed inside Texas will carry Texas registration only; one that ran interstate may have apportioned plates, so tell us which kind is on the cab.
Drivers working within 100 miles of base are reported by 34 carriers, and 43 report drivers who go beyond that radius, FMCSA’s census shows; a carrier can report both. If your truck is out on a long run when you decide to sell, tell us where it will be parked once it is back, and we plan around that spot.
The median truck among the 11 local carriers that report mileage covers 26,500 miles a year, a figure from FMCSA’s carrier census. Have the current odometer reading ready with the VIN; those two numbers answer most of our first questions.
Small operators and a handful of fleets
The FMCSA carrier census shows the top fleets in town running 12, 5 and 3 power units, with 8, 6 and 1 drivers respectively. Whether you have one tractor or are clearing several units from a yard of that size, list each truck’s VIN and where it stands so we can collect them in one trip.
New registrations stay modest: FMCSA’s carrier census records 5 new Grand Saline carriers in 2024 and 2 in 2025. An owner-operator who started recently and is now selling should have the title in hand, or the lien release if the truck was financed, before we arrange the pickup.
County herds
Cattle, milk and propagative material in Van Zandt County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 3,206 farms in Van Zandt County, with cattle, milk and propagative material leading the county’s sales. Cattle pots, milk tankers, hay haulers and farm flatbeds are part of what works these roads, and a truck sitting at a ranch or dairy can be collected right there.
If the truck is parked in a pasture or behind a barn, send a photo of the approach along with the truck itself. A clear picture of the gate and the ground leading to the truck lets us send the right equipment the first time.
Builders and Mineola
Jobs, contractors and the Mineola rail yard
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place 796 jobs in Grand Saline in 2023, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau lists 16 construction establishments. Contractors selling a dump truck, flatbed or service body should gather the registration and any service records kept for the unit.
For loads moving by rail, the Federal Railroad Administration and Bureau of Transportation Statistics map a yard at Mineola, 11 miles east, in the North American Rail Network. Trucks that shuttle loads to and from that yard are often parked in Mineola rather than Grand Saline; give us the address where it actually sits.
A lost title is handled through the state’s title agency, so apply for a replacement there before the sale if the original cannot be found. Tell us at the start if the title is missing, and we will tell you what we need alongside the replacement.
