Quarries on both sides of the lake
Spicewood Quarry, a crushed-stone operation listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lies 11.6 miles west of Hudson Bend, across the water toward the Spicewood side. If your dump truck or end-dump tractor has been hauling aggregate out of that pit, it may well be parked at a yard nearer Spicewood than at your house; give us that address and we will arrange the collection there.
To the north, Armadillo Pit is another crushed-stone site, 15.7 miles from town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. A truck that has spent its shifts on quarry haul roads should come to us with its registration and whatever service records you kept. Photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab together give us the clearest picture of a tipper before we talk.
Dimension stone north-east and north-west
Two dimension-stone quarries appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records near here: Rock Quarry, 11.5 miles north-east, and Cordova Quarry, 15.3 miles north-west. Cut blocks and slabs usually leave on flatbeds or heavy straight trucks rather than dumps, so if yours is a flatbed tractor or a boom truck that served either site, tell us what it carried.
Have the title in hand and in your own name before you contact us; if the trailer is separately titled, find that one too. Where a title has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues the replacement, so begin that request first and send us the registration while it is in progress.
Petroleum terminals east toward Austin
The Energy Information Administration lists the AUSTIN PLANT petroleum product terminal 11.6 miles east of Hudson Bend, and FLINT HILLS RESOURCES LP- AUSTIN, also a petroleum product terminal, 18.8 miles out in the same direction. Tank trucks and fuel tractors that load at racks like these are part of what we buy.
For a tanker, send the VIN, the tank’s inspection paperwork if you have it, and a note on whether the tank and the tractor are sold together. If the unit is parked inside a terminal fence, tell us who controls the gate so the pickup can be booked with them.
NG Camp Mabry is 11.9 miles south-east of town on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of military installations, and Army Futures Command, on that same federal list, is 12.6 miles in the same direction. Contractors and service vendors around installations run box trucks, pickups with service bodies and straight trucks of every kind.
If your truck is registered to a business rather than to you personally, the person signing for the company should be the one who contacts us, with the title showing the business name. That keeps the paperwork in step from the first call through collection.
Census Bureau LEHD job counts (LODES) put 1,256 jobs in Hudson Bend in 2023, and 72 of them, or 5.7 percent, were in construction. Builders and trades working lakeside lots keep dump trucks, flatbeds and utility bodies, and any of them can be sold to us from the driveway or job site where it sits.
Across Travis County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 870 farms, with cattle, corn and equine listed as the top products. Livestock haulers, grain trucks and tractors pulling horse trailers on those operations are welcome here too; tell us which ranch or field gate the truck is behind and whether a trailer goes with it.
The questions we get asked in Hudson Bend
