A town where construction holds a third of the jobs
Construction accounts for 2,071 of Jersey Village’s 6,516 jobs in 2023, a 31.8 percent slice, going by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Dump trucks, flatbeds and equipment haulers that serve those job sites are on the list of what we buy, and it helps to tell us which kind yours is when you first get in touch.
Wholesale trade adds 506 jobs on the same LEHD figures, alongside 118 in transportation and warehousing and 68 in manufacturing. If your box truck or tractor delivered for a wholesale yard around Jersey Village, have the title and current Texas registration in one place before we talk, since those two papers settle most of the first call.
Hockley’s pits and the trucks that load there
Federal mine records from the Mine Safety and Health Administration list the Hockley Plant, a sand and gravel operation 16.2 miles west, and the Hockley Mine, an industrial-mineral site 16.4 miles west. A tri-axle or end dump that has hauled out of either one can stay parked on the yard or lot where it sits; give us the address and a gate contact and we arrange collection there.
Photos taken out at Hockley should show the bed, the hoist, the frame rails and the tires as well as the cab and the VIN plate. That set of pictures lets us see the same truck you describe on the phone.
North Houston yard, fuel terminals and the ship channel
Rail mapping in the North American Rail Network shows the North Houston rail yard 4.7 miles east of Jersey Village and Eureka Yard 11.6 miles to the south-east. Drayage tractors and day cabs that shuttle between those yards and nearby warehouses are trucks we purchase, whether you run one or a handful.
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals east of town, North Houston at 9.9 miles and Houston at 10.3 miles. If your tank tractor loaded at either, keep any terminal inspection sheets or service records with the title so they travel with the truck.
Eastward again, the Houston Port Authority sits 11.3 miles out according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, which also lists Texas Blending & Warehousing, a liquid bulk terminal, 15.5 miles south-east. A container chassis puller or liquid bulk tractor parked near the channel does not need to be driven back to Jersey Village for us to collect it.
Fourteen active carriers, short radius
Jersey Village is home base for 14 active carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, split evenly at seven interstate and seven intrastate, and two of them haul for their own business as private fleets. Ten haul general freight, three move machinery and large objects, one carries household goods and one hauls logs, poles, beams and lumber.
Drivers here mostly stay close to home: that same census records 315 working within 100 miles and 12 going beyond it. A short-radius day cab is usually back on its home lot by evening, which is the address we will ask you for.
One Jersey Village carrier reports 319 power units and 307 drivers to FMCSA, while the next two run three and two trucks. Whether you are selling a single tractor or several units at once, list each VIN and the title holder so we can line the paperwork up truck by truck.
How far these trucks travel each year
Photograph the dash with the odometer readable and send it with the VIN; those two come first on our list of questions.
New authority keeps arriving too: FMCSA records three carriers registering here in 2025 and one in 2024. If you started a small outfit recently and are selling a truck that is still financed, have the lienholder’s name and contact details ready so the payoff can be arranged.
Bridges, farms and a missing title
Around Jersey Village the National Bridge Inventory lists 135 bridges, six of them load-posted and none with clearance under 14 feet. Tell us where the truck is parked and which road it leaves by, so the collection route can be planned around any posted crossing.
Harris County had 1,531 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, equine and potted flowering plants leading. A livestock hauler or nursery stake truck from a county farm is welcome, and if its Texas title has gone missing, tell us at the start so the replacement can be requested from the state’s title agency before pickup.
The questions we get asked in Jersey Village
- My dump truck sits on a lot near the Hockley pits. Can it stay out there for pickup? The Hockley Plant and Hockley Mine sit about 16 miles west on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from there. Include the lot’s address and who holds the key to its gate.
- I pull boxes out of the North Houston rail yard with a day cab, and is a rail drayage tractor on your buying list?Drayage work around the North Houston yard, 4.7 miles east on the North American Rail Network, uses day cabs and tractors we purchase. Send the VIN, an odometer photo and pictures of the cab and frame to start.
- The title for my rig in Jersey Village is lost somewhere in the house, so how do we handle the sale without it?A Harris County truck with a missing title needs a certified copy from the Texas title agency, and saying so in your first message lets us plan the sale around the replacement.
