Of the 184 active Joshua carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, 141 keep their loads inside Texas and 43 hold interstate authority. If your tractor or straight truck has stayed inside Texas, keep its Texas registration and title together in the cab; those two papers are the first things we look at when we come to collect.
Among those carriers, 51 are private fleets moving their own goods rather than freight for hire, according to the same FMCSA census. A contractor or supplier selling a truck off its own yard can tell us the address of that yard and leave the truck parked there for pickup.
New registrations show up in the census too: FMCSA lists 16 new carriers here in 2024 and 13 in 2025. Owners who started up in those two years usually hold a recent title in their own name, which makes the paperwork side of a sale short.
General freight, lumber and steel coil
In Joshua, 105 carriers put general freight on their FMCSA census filing, and 34 put down machinery and large objects beside it. If yours is a dry van tractor or a lowboy rig that moved equipment, send photos of the cab, the frame and the plates along with the VIN so we know what we are coming to see.
The census from FMCSA also shows 29 carriers here hauling logs, poles, beams and lumber, and another 29 hauling metal sheets, coils and rolls. Flatbed and coil-rack setups both fit that work; tell us whether the trailer goes with the tractor or stays with you.
Rail yards, pits and quarries around town
Carry Transit, a liquid bulk terminal listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, lies 4.7 miles south-west of Joshua, and the North American Rail Network places the Cleburne rail yard 6.4 miles south. A tanker or a tractor that worked between those two can be collected from wherever it is parked now, in town or on a lot near either site.
Alvarado Sand and Gravel is 7.6 miles east, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration, which also lists a second sand and gravel operation 10 miles south-east. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors from those pits are on our list; have the title and any service records ready when you call.
Farther out, the Nemo Plant and the Plant & Quarry crushed-stone sites sit about 18 miles south-west, and Midlothian Quarry and Plant, a cement operation, is 20.9 miles east, all on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. If your truck is parked at a quarry gate, give us a name at the site who can let us in.
Inspection years and annual miles off Johnson County roads
Of 127 trucks pulled over in roadside inspections between October 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records give a median model year of 2013, with 58 percent of them ten or more years old. Whatever the year on your truck, the model year and VIN are what we ask for first.
Drivers here split 288 working within 100 miles and 194 going beyond it, on FMCSA’s census, and 53 carriers report a median of 39,279 miles per truck a year. Send the odometer reading with your photos so the description and the truck line up.
Fleets on file in FMCSA’s census here run up to 23 power units, with others at 14 and 13. A small fleet selling several units at once can list them all in one message, with each VIN and where each truck is parked.
Quarry, plant and dairy work near Joshua
Joshua had 2,568 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, including 188 in manufacturing, 134 in mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction, and 111 in construction. Trucks from any of those trades can be collected from a job site, a shop yard or a driveway.
For Joshua, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns lists 48 construction establishments. For a contractor’s dump truck or flatbed, have the registration and title in the business name ready, and tell us who signs for the company.
Johnson County’s 2,745 farms, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, put cattle first, then milk, then corn. A cattle hauler, a milk tanker or a grain truck parked on a farm can stay put; give us directions to the gate.
The questions we get asked in Joshua
- My end-dump sits by the Alvarado Sand and Gravel pit east of town. Should I haul it into Joshua first?Alvarado Sand and Gravel is 7.6 miles east of Joshua on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from there. Tell us whose ground the truck is on so the pickup is arranged with them.
- My tractor never left Texas on a load. Is a Texas-only truck a problem for a sale out of Joshua?Joshua has 141 intrastate-only carriers in FMCSA’s census against 43 interstate ones, so a Texas-only truck is the usual case here. Keep the Texas title and the Johnson County registration on hand for the day we arrive.
- Is a flatbed tractor that ran lumber and beams out of Joshua something you take?Lumber, logs, poles and beams are listed by 29 Joshua carriers in FMCSA’s census, and we buy flatbed tractors from that work. Photos of the deck and cab, plus the VIN and odometer, get things moving.
