Kempner’s quarry roads toward Florence
A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has worked that pit may still be parked at the quarry yard rather than in town, and that is where we can collect it.
South-east of town the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two dimension-stone quarries, HEARTLAND QUARRIES PIT # 2 at roughly 15.5 miles and Rock Solid Stone Quarry at about 17.6 miles, plus Lone Star Aggregates - Florence, a crushed-stone site some 20.1 miles out. Flatbeds that move cut stone and tractors pulling belly dumps both come off routes like these. Send us photos of the bed or trailer as well as the cab, and say which pit the truck served.
If the truck sits on a quarry property you no longer visit, you can still sell it from home. Tell us the site name from the list above and who holds the key, and the rest of the paperwork can be done by phone and email.
Army post and rail
Near the FT. HOOD yard and Fort Cavazos
About 7.8 miles north-east of Kempner, the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics marks a rail yard named FT. Fort Cavazos itself, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists as a military installation, is around 17 miles away in the same direction.
Sellers on or near the post often have a truck parked off-site in Kempner while they are stationed elsewhere or moving on. Leave it where it is, give us the street address and a local contact, and we arrange the pickup with them. Keep the title and the current registration together so either of you can hand them over.
Fourteen haul grain, feed and hay, another fourteen move machinery and large objects, and twelve carry farm supplies, by the same federal count. Box trucks, flatbeds, lowboys and livestock or hay rigs all fit that mix, and we buy each kind.
Most of these operations stay inside Texas: the FMCSA census records 52 intrastate carriers against 11 interstate ones, and 32 run as private fleets hauling their own goods. For a seller, that usually means the truck is registered in Texas and parked on a ranch, a shop lot or a home driveway near town, all places we come to.
New authorities keep appearing, too; FMCSA lists six carriers that registered in Kempner in 2025 and four in 2024. Whether your operation is new or long-standing, have the VIN, the title and the cab card ready when you contact us.
Small outfits and short hauls
Kempner’s fleets are small: according to FMCSA’s carrier census, the three biggest by power units run four trucks, two trucks and two trucks, with three or four drivers each. A seller here is usually the owner, so one signature on the title is often all the sale needs.
Driver radius in FMCSA’s census splits 38 drivers working within 100 miles and 57 going further. Among 15 carriers that reported mileage, the census puts the median at 20,000 miles per truck a year. Write down the odometer reading when you photograph the dash so the figure matches what we see.
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA covered 35 trucks tied to Kempner carriers between September 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2015 and about 54 percent ten or more model years old. Whatever year your truck is, tell us the make, model and engine, and send any service records you have.
Ranches around Kempner raise cattle, horses and sheep, the three leading lines across Lampasas County’s 1,076 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Stock trailers, hay haulers and feed trucks are part of ranch work here, and a truck parked in a pasture or barn can be collected where it stands.
Tell us whether the truck is reached by a paved road or a ranch track, and whether a gate needs opening. If the trailer goes with the tractor, include photos of both and the trailer’s own title or registration.
Roads and building
Bridges and builders on the Kempner side
Seven bridges are recorded near Kempner in the National Bridge Inventory, and none of them is load-posted or under fourteen feet of clearance. Our tow and haul trucks can reach town without detours around weight or height limits.
The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns counts 41 construction establishments in the county, so dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from building work are common sellers here. Clean out the tool boxes before pickup and note any equipment that is mounted to the truck and stays with it.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles points Kempner sellers to the Lampasas County Tax Office, roughly 12.1 miles away, at 409 S. Pecan St., Ste. 101, Lampasas, 76550, in the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles county office listing.
If the title is missing, request a certified copy there before we schedule the pickup, and bring your ID and the VIN. If a lender still shows on the title, bring the lien release as well, so the office can issue a clear copy in your name.
