Sell your semi truck for cash in La Feria the easy and convenient way

La Feria sits in Cameron County between the Harlingen rail yard to the north-east and the Rio Valley intermodal ramp at Donna to the west, and the trucks registered here haul produce, meat and general freight across the lower Rio Grande Valley.

Selling a truck in La Feria? Tell us about it and we'll take it from there.

Of the 78 La Feria carriers active in FMCSA’s carrier census, general freight is the cargo 46 of them put on file. If your tractor pulled mixed loads for one of those outfits, send the VIN, the plate and a set of photos of the cab, frame and tires, and we can start the conversation from there.

Fresh produce is declared by 19 La Feria carriers in the federal carrier census, with 18 listing refrigerated food and 18 listing meat. A reefer unit is part of the sale when it goes with the tractor or trailer, so photograph the unit’s data plate and have its service records out alongside the truck’s own papers.

Of those 78 carriers, the FMCSA census shows 57 run intrastate only, 21 cross state lines and 21 operate as private fleets hauling their own goods. A tractor that stayed inside Texas still needs its Texas title and current registration in the seller’s name before it changes hands, so check both before you call.

Model year, odometer and new authority

Between September 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records caught 103 trucks belonging to La Feria carriers, a group with a 2016 median model year and 52.4 percent of units a decade old or older. Whatever year your truck is, give us the model year from the title so we are reading the same document you are.

For 22 local carriers that report it, the median annual distance per truck in FMCSA’s census is 11,709 miles. Read the odometer yourself on the day you contact us and include a photo of the dash, since that one figure settles a lot of the questions that follow.

New registrations in the carrier census climbed from 3 La Feria carriers in 2024 to 11 in 2025. If your authority is that recent and you are selling the tractor you started with, have the registration and any lease or lien release ready; a lender’s name on the title has to be cleared before the sale.

From the La Feria side to Harlingen’s rail and Donna’s boxes

Drive 8.1 miles north-east from La Feria and you reach the Harlingen rail yard, as mapped in the North American Rail Network from the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A day cab that shuttles boxes or bulk between that yard and Valley warehouses can be collected at the yard lot or at your house; tell us which and who holds the gate key.

West along the Valley, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Rio Valley intermodal ramp at Donna, 16.6 miles from town. If your drayage tractor is parked near that ramp, that is a fine place for us to pick one up as long as you give us the exact spot.

Key Petrol, Titan Fuel and the Harlingen tank farms

Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings east of La Feria: one at Harlingen 13.2 miles out and Key Petrol 14.1 miles out. Just past those, at 14.3 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows Titan Fuel handling liquid bulk. If your tractor pulled a tanker into those terminals, tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale and send its plate and any tank test paperwork with it.

According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Port of Harlingen Authority lies 20.3 miles north-east of town. A truck that worked barge cargo at the port docks does not need to come back to La Feria to be sold; give us the address of the lot where it is parked and a phone number for whoever can let our driver in.

Construction, quarry stone and Cameron County farms

Census Bureau LEHD job counts for 2023 put 325 of La Feria’s 2,013 jobs in construction, 16.1 percent, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau show 17 construction establishments. Dump trucks, flatbeds and mixers from that trade are on our list; photograph the body and the hydraulics along with the chassis and note the body’s make if it differs from the truck’s.

Crushed stone comes out of La Havana Pit, which Mine Safety and Health Administration records place 23.3 miles up the road to the north-west of La Feria. Aggregate haulers working that pit can be picked up at the quarry yard if the operator agrees, so ask the site office before you give us that address.

USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,248 farms in Cameron County, with cotton, sorghum and corn the top crops. A grain truck or farm tractor-trailer that only moves at harvest still needs a title in your name; if it was bought years ago and the title never got transferred, the state’s title agency is where that gets fixed before we can collect.

Ten clear bridges and the wholesale trade

All 10 La Feria bridges in the National Bridge Inventory carry no load posting, and not one of them sits below 14 feet. For the bridges themselves, then, nothing stands in the way, and the main thing we need from you is a parking spot with room for a trailer to line up beside the truck.

Wholesale trade accounts for 70 local jobs, 3.5 percent, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts for 2023. Box trucks and straight trucks from distribution work fit what we collect too; send the GVWR from the door sticker and a photo of the box so we know which trailer to bring.

The questions we get asked in La Feria

  • My reefer sits at a produce shed off the La Feria farm roads; will your driver go out to it?Nineteen La Feria carriers declare fresh produce in FMCSA’s carrier census, and a shed lot is a workable pickup spot. Give us the shed’s address and the name of whoever runs the yard, and we arrange the pickup with them.
  • My drayage tractor is parked by the Rio Valley ramp in Donna; is that a workable collection point? The Rio Valley ramp at Donna sits 16.6 miles west of La Feria in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, and we can meet the truck at or near it. Tell us the lot, the gate contact and whether a chassis goes with the tractor.
