Pits to the north-west
Denton Sand Farm, B & B and Denton Pits
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Denton Sand Farm, a sand and gravel operation 5.9 miles north-west of Little Elm, and B & B Sand & Gravel 8 miles out on the same heading. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that load at these pits can be collected from the pit lot itself if that is where yours is kept; give us the gate contact and the hours the site is open.
Further west, Denton Pits, an industrial-mineral mine about 12.6 miles away, appears in the same Mine Safety and Health Administration listing. If your truck hauled mineral loads from there, have the title and current Texas registration together before you call, plus a few photos of the bed, the cab and the VIN plate.
Freight, moves and coil out of Little Elm
Of the 346 active carriers with a Little Elm address in FMCSA’s carrier census, 261 list general freight, 41 household goods, 37 metal sheets, coils and rolls, and 36 paper products. A moving van, a box truck or a coil-hauling flatbed tractor all qualify; send the year, the make and the VIN in your first message.
Intrastate operators outnumber interstate ones here, 209 to 135, in FMCSA’s carrier census, which also lists 49 private operations hauling their own goods. A truck that only ever ran Texas lanes is titled and registered with the state, so the paperwork you need is the Texas title in your name or your company’s.
New authorities keep appearing on the roster: FMCSA’s carrier census shows 49 carriers first registered in Little Elm in 2025, against 27 in 2024. If you started an operation recently and are now selling a tractor, a title with a lienholder listed is workable; have the lender’s name and payoff contact ready.
Fleet sizes and miles
Eighteen units at the top end
The three biggest Little Elm operations on file with FMCSA run 18, 11 and 10 power units. If you are selling one unit out of two or three, tell us which one and where it is parked, and we deal with that truck alone.
Among 74 local carriers reporting annual mileage in FMCSA’s carrier census, the median is 50,000 miles per truck, and the same census shows 238 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 381 beyond it. If your tractor is out on a run when you contact us, say where it will be parked when it returns so we can plan the pickup there.
Little Elm model years at the roadside
Across 227 trucks inspected between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year for Little Elm carriers at 2016, with 45.8% of those trucks ten or more model years old. Whatever the year on yours, send the VIN first; it tells us the engine, the axle setup and the build date in one line.
Keep any inspection reports from those roadside stops with the truck’s other papers. Along with your service invoices, they give us the truck’s history from your own records, and if you have none, a clear set of photos of the frame, tires and cab interior does the same job.
Construction, farms and fuel terminals
Construction accounts for 273 of the 6,133 jobs located in Little Elm in 2023, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with manufacturing at 178 and wholesale trade at 136. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau count 77 construction establishments here. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from building sites are all trucks we purchase; list any attached equipment, like a crane or liftgate, when you write to us.
Denton County has 2,936 farms, says USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with equine, wheat and sorghum at the top of the list. A grain truck or a horse-trailer tractor kept on a farm outside town can be collected where it stands, provided we have a working road in and someone who can show us the truck.
South-west of town, the Energy Information Administration lists petroleum product terminals at Southlake, 17.9 and 22.2 miles out. If you pulled fuel tankers into those terminals, mention whether the trailer goes with the tractor or stays behind, since that changes what we collect.
Rail yards and local roads
The North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows two Carrollton rail yards, 16.2 and 16.4 miles south of Little Elm. A drayage tractor parked near those yards can stay there; give us the yard address and who holds the keys.
None of the 18 bridges the National Bridge Inventory records in Little Elm carries a posted load limit, and none has clearance under 14 feet. Tell us the street address where the truck sits and whether a tow or lowboy can pull up beside it, and the pickup is planned around that.
