Quarries and cement plants on the north-west side
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 1604 Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, 3 miles north-west of Live Oak, with the Lion Cave Materials Briggs Pit 4.3 miles north. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that cycle between those pits and job sites are trucks we collect. If yours has been parked at a quarry gate, give us the site name and who controls access so the pickup can be booked with them.
Two cement plants appear in the same Mine Safety and Health Administration records: 1604 QUARRY & PLANT at 4.3 miles north-west and Capitol Cement Plant & Quarry at 4.9 miles west. A mixer, a pneumatic bulk tractor or a cement tanker that worked those plants can be sold where it sits. Photograph the drum or tank along with the cab, the frame and the tires, and send the VIN with the pictures.
KIRBY, the TOFC ramp and two fuel racks
South-west of town, the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the KIRBY yard 6.5 miles out and SAN ANTONIO TOFC, a trailer-on-flatcar yard, 6.9 miles away. Day cabs that dray containers and trailers off those ramps are part of what we buy. Tell us whether the tractor is at a yard, a drop lot or your home, and we will plan around that spot.
SAN ANTONIO BLENDING TERMINAL, 7.8 miles south-west, and SAN ANTONIO EAST, 8.2 miles in the same direction, are petroleum product terminals on the Energy Information Administration’s list. If your tractor pulled fuel from those racks, keep its inspection reports and service records together with the title. Those papers show where the unit has been in a way a photograph cannot.
Fifty-four small carriers on the census
Fifty-four active carriers are based here, according to FMCSA’s carrier census, and 42 of them list general freight. Seven each name dry bulk commodities, logs, poles, beams and lumber, or machinery and large objects. Whether yours is a van tractor, a flatbed setup or a lowboy hauler, describe the trailer it pulled and the body it carries when you first get in touch.
Of those 54 carriers in the federal census, 43 are intrastate only, 11 run interstate and 7 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck that never left Texas still needs its title and current registration ready at collection. If the title is in a company name, have the person authorised to sign for that company available on the day.
FMCSA’s census shows 12 new carriers registered here in 2025 and none in 2024. In that same FMCSA census, no Live Oak fleet runs beyond 3 power units, and the top three hold 3 apiece with 2 or 3 drivers each. Owner-operators and small outfits can sell one tractor or a whole small fleet in a single conversation; list each VIN and where each unit is parked.
Mileage and the roads around town
Seven Live Oak carriers gave FMCSA’s carrier census an annual mileage, and the midpoint of their figures lands at 66,615 miles for each truck. Read the odometer before you call us and send that figure with the VIN; the rest of our questions start from those two numbers.
Across 37 bridges in the city, the National Bridge Inventory records none posted for load limits and none with clearance under 14 feet. Getting a loaded tractor or a tall trailer to a pickup point inside Live Oak should involve no low-bridge detour. Give us the street address and note any gate, tight turn or soft ground at the spot.
Construction payrolls and cattle country
Census Bureau LEHD job counts put 12,565 jobs in Live Oak in 2023, of which construction held 201, or 1.6 percent, and wholesale trade 178, or 1.4 percent. A dump body, a stake bed or a box truck used for deliveries to those employers is welcome. Tell us the body type and its length so we know what to bring.
Bexar County had 2,107 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, horses and corn as the leading products. Livestock haulers, grain trucks and flatbeds kept on a ranch outside town can be collected from the property itself. Send a pin or gate directions with your photos, since a ranch road is rarely on a map.
The questions we get asked in Live Oak
- My dump truck is still at a quarry north-west of Live Oak. Does the dump truck need hauling off the stone pit first, or will your driver go in for it?1604 Quarry sits 3 miles north-west of the city on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from sites like that. Tell us who manages the gate so the visit is arranged with the operator.
- I drayed out of the KIRBY rail yard. Will you load the day cab from that ramp?KIRBY lies 6.5 miles south-west of Live Oak on the North American Rail Network, and a tractor parked at that yard or a nearby drop lot can be collected in place. Send the yard name, the space number if there is one, and the VIN.
- Are there low bridges in Live Oak that would block a pickup?Live Oak’s 37 bridges in the National Bridge Inventory include none under 14 feet and none with a posted load limit. Give us the address and any access notes, and the route can be planned from there.
- What should I have ready if my truck only ran inside Texas?Forty-three of the 54 carriers in FMCSA’s census for Live Oak operate intrastate only. Have the title, current registration and any inspection or service records together, plus photos of the cab, frame and tires.
