The Rio Valley ramp at Donna
Donna’s Rio Valley intermodal ramp, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 8.6 miles west of Mila Doce, is the nearest place a container leaves a railcar for the road. A day cab that shuttles boxes off that ramp is likely parked somewhere along the stretch between Donna and town, and we can collect it there rather than ask you to move it.
If your tractor drew its loads from Rio Valley, write down the VIN, the plate and the name on the Texas title before you contact us. With those three in hand, the rest of the conversation is about the truck itself and where it sits.
La Havana, Texan Pit and a portable crusher
La Havana Pit, a crushed-stone quarry, is 13.7 miles west on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list; Texan Pit, a sand and gravel operation, sits at 20 miles in the same direction. End dumps, belly dumps and tri-axle trucks hauling from those two sites are the kind of equipment we take on from owner-operators around Mila Doce.
The same federal mine register shows Portable Crusher #2 at 20.7 miles to the north-west. A crusher that moves between jobs means a dump truck can finish its last run at a site rather than a yard, so give us the site name and a phone number for whoever controls the gate.
For any truck that has hauled rock or gravel, send daylight photos of the body, the hoist, the frame rails and the tires along with the cab and the dash, taken from all four corners.
Tank work between the Edinburg and Harlingen racks
According to the Energy Information Administration, a petroleum product terminal stands at Edinburg, 15.8 miles north-west, and another at Harlingen, 21.4 miles east. Tractors that pull fuel trailers in and out of either one, and the straight tank trucks that deliver locally, fit what we purchase.
Tell us which terminal your tanker loaded at and whether the tank trailer is part of the sale or the tractor alone. Keep the title, the registration and any annual inspection reports together in the cab for the day of collection.
Rail east
Harlingen’s yards to the east
Two rail yards named Harlingen appear in the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, at 15.6 and 15.7 miles east of Mila Doce. Trucks that work the freight moving through them may be based on either side of the county line.
If your truck sits in a Cameron County lot near those yards, give us the street address and the hours the lot is open. If the Texas title has gone missing, say so in your first message and apply for a replacement before we schedule the visit.
A manufacturing town amid cotton gins and cattle pens
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 336 jobs inside Mila Doce, and manufacturing accounts for 194 of them, a 57.7 percent share. Box trucks, reefers and flatbeds serving plant work in town are part of what we buy, wherever they are parked.
Across Hidalgo County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 2,045 farms, with cotton, corn and cattle as the leading products. Module haulers, grain trucks and cattle pots on those farms are welcome, and a truck stored in a barn or at a gin lot can be collected where it stands.
Have the title and the current registration for a farm truck together, and tell us whether a trailer goes with it. If the title shows a lien from an equipment loan, include the lender’s name so the release can be handled at the sale.
The questions we get asked in Mila Doce
- My dump truck is still out at La Havana Pit, west of town. Will you fetch it from the quarry?La Havana Pit is 13.7 miles west of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, and we collect from the quarry itself. Give us the operator’s contact so the gate is open when the driver arrives.
- I lost the title to a tractor that hauled from the Donna ramp. Is that sale off the table?A tractor working the Rio Valley ramp, 8.6 miles west by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ listing, can still be sold once a replacement Texas title is applied for. Send the VIN and the date you filed for the duplicate, and the Donna-side photos can come while the paper catches up.
- Do you take cotton module trucks and cattle haulers from Hidalgo County farms?Cotton and cattle are both among the county’s top products in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and trucks built for that work are ones we purchase. Send photos and the title, and say whether the module bed or trailer is included.
