Trucking authorities filed from Missouri City
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 710 active motor carriers based in Missouri City. If one of those authorities is yours, have the USDOT number on hand when you contact us, along with the VIN, so we can match the truck to the operation it ran under.
Of those 710, the census counts 426 operating intrastate only, 281 with interstate authority and 84 running private fleets for their own goods. A Fort Bend owner-operator who kept the truck on Texas loads and a private fleet manager clearing a yard both sell the same way: title, registration and a set of photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel.
New authorities keep appearing, according to FMCSA: 75 carriers registered here in 2025 and 46 in 2024. If you started a small outfit in the last two years and are now selling the tractor, bring the purchase paperwork and the lien release if the truck was financed.
Coil, lumber and heavy equipment loads
General freight is the cargo class most carriers here declare, at 572 on FMCSA’s census, so dry vans and the tractors that pull them make up much of what we look at from this zip code. Send a photo of the trailer too if it is part of the sale.
The same census lists 122 Missouri City carriers hauling metal sheets, coils and rolls, and 118 hauling logs, poles, beams and lumber. Flatbed tractors and their trailers with chains, binders and tarps still aboard should be listed piece by piece, so we know what is coming with the truck.
Another 97 local carriers declare machinery and large objects, by FMCSA’s count, which points to lowboys and step-decks parked in Fort Bend yards. Tell us the trailer’s axle count and deck length alongside the tractor’s VIN.
Terminals and rail ramps north-east of town
The Energy Information Administration places one petroleum product terminal 9.6 miles north-east of Missouri City and a second 11.2 miles out in the same direction. A tanker tractor that has loaded at those racks can be picked up from the yard where it now sits; give us the gate contact and the address.
Further along that line, Texas Blending & Warehousing is a liquid bulk terminal 19.7 miles north-east, as listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If you hauled tank loads there, keep any tank wash records and hazmat paperwork with the truck when it changes hands.
For container work, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Pearland rail intermodal ramp 15.5 miles east, and the North American Rail Network shows the New South rail yards about 15.6 and 15.8 miles north-east. A day cab that has shuttled boxes to those ramps sells with its title and current registration; a chassis goes with it only if you own it outright.
Pits and farms
Gravel to the west, row crops in the county
Ten miles west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Richmond Material Co as a sand and gravel operation. Dump trucks and end-dump trailers that have run out of that pit can be collected at the pit, the shop or your driveway, wherever they are parked.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,233 farms in Fort Bend County, with cattle, rice and cotton as the top products. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and farm tractors that pulled them are part of what we take; if the truck carries farm plates, have that registration ready along with the title.
Missouri City has 94 construction firms on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns, alongside 4 warehousing establishments in the same release. A contractor retiring a dump truck or a flatbed from one of those firms needs the title in the company name and someone authorised to sign it.
Jobs and range
Where Missouri City’s trucks work
LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put 20,301 jobs in Missouri City in 2023, and 2,721 of them, or 13.4 percent, were in transportation and warehousing. Manufacturing held 1,654 and wholesale trade 816 in those same LEHD figures. Tell us which sector your truck served; it helps us know what body and equipment to expect.
Driver records in FMCSA’s census show 575 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 935 going beyond it. If your sleeper is out on a run when you decide to sell, we can arrange to meet it where it finishes rather than waiting for it to come home.
Among the 134 local carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 40,297 miles per truck a year. Have the current odometer reading and the VIN ready when you first get in touch.
Fleets and model years
Fleet sizes and model years on the road
Three Missouri City fleets on FMCSA’s census run 92, 50 and 35 power units, with 90, 20 and 24 drivers. A fleet retiring several tractors at once can send us one list of VINs, and we work through the titles together.
FMCSA roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026 covered 410 trucks from local carriers; their median model year is 2016, and 48 percent were ten or more years old. Whatever the model year, the paperwork we ask for is the same: title, registration, and any inspection or service records you have kept.
Of the 57 Missouri City bridges in the National Bridge Inventory, not one is load-posted or below 14 feet, on the Federal Highway Administration’s record for the city. Tell us where the truck is parked and how to reach it, and we will plan the collection from there.
The questions we get asked in Missouri City
- My tanker is parked by a fuel terminal north-east of town. Do I need to move it to Missouri City first? The tanker stays put until we arrive. The Energy Information Administration lists petroleum product terminals 9.6 and 11.2 miles north-east of town, and we collect from there or wherever the truck sits. Give us the address and who can open the gate.
- The title for my Fort Bend County tractor has gone missing - where do I get a replacement?Apply for a certified copy through the state’s title agency, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, before the sale. Tell us when you contact us, and we can talk through the rest of the paperwork while the copy is on its way.
- Can I sell a dump truck that runs out of the Richmond gravel pit?It can be sold where it sits. The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Richmond Material Co ten miles west of Missouri City, and we can collect the truck at the pit if that is where it is parked, with its title and Texas registration handed over at pickup.
